WOTS Summer Make-A-Long 2021

This summer I’m joining forces again with a FABULOUSLY talented yarn dyer, aka The Yarn Whisperer, and together we have created a brand new summer make along (MAL) , called ‘Whispers of the Sea’, that’s a perfect holiday project.

๐ŸŒŠ But, whatโ€™s a MAL?
Well, we know youโ€™ve heard of CAL or KAL (crochet or knit along respectively!) or even a MKAL (Mystery knit along!) a MAL, or make along, is similar to all of these, with just a few differences… A make-along is when a specific pattern is released with all of the details required to make the design, along with a specific start date for everyone to begin their project, together. Then, unlike a crochet-along where you often have segments of the pattern released over a number of weeks, you have the pattern in full with just an end date to make it by. Itโ€™s a relaxed way to make a project as you can work at your own pace, but there is a deadline to hold you accountable should you need one.

๐ŸŒŠ When will it happen?

The Make Along will run from 5 July to 10 September 2021 for a a nice relaxed summertime project with plenty of time for you to make the pattern.

Make sure you are signed up to the blog (or my newsletter) and / or The Yarn Whisperer newsletter to make sure you are the first to know when the new collaboration project is revealed!

๐ŸŒŠ What are we making?

It’s going to be a beautiful summer wrap design that we can make together. The yarn and pattern will be sent out at the end of June / beginning of July ready for the start of the MAL on 5 July 2021.

Skills needed: Basic crochet stitches, cluster stitches, missing stitches, working into chain spaces and working in rows.

Hook needed: 3.5mm

Terminology: The pattern will be available in both UK and US crochet terminology

๐ŸŒŠ How will it work?
An exclusive pattern and kit are being created for this extra special MAL. Each kit will include:

  • 2x 100g skeins of 4ply / Fingering / Sock Weight / Slub Yarn yarn. Excitingly this time there are TWO different exclusive hand-dyed colourways to choose from; Laminariales โ€“ a beautiful Blue/Green, inspired by Kelp Forests OR Zoantharia – a Zesty Yellow / Orange / Pink inspired by corals.
  • Sea Glass beads for that extra special touch of the seaside
  • A digital copy of the pattern (which will be sent to you the day before the MAL begins) and a few extra, exclusive treats, just for good measure!

Pre-ordered kits will be available for ยฃ44 + postage, and can be made on The Yarn Whisperer website from 10 am on 10 May 2021 and if you order in the first 24 hours you can enjoy a 10% Early Bird discount.

Kits will be dyed to order over the coming weeks, with generally a 1 week turn-around from order to shipping. But get in quick to ensure you get yours in plenty of time to crochet along with us!

Last International orders will be shipped by 5 June if ordered by 22 May 2021. UK orders will continue to be shipped after this date, but ordering early ensure yours arrives in plenty of time to join us on 5 July 2021.

๐ŸŒŠ Is support available for this MAL?

There will be support for the pattern as usual in my Facebook group, and also you can pop in and join in with the Virtual Stitch-n-B*tch sessions hosted by Kitey. Those are a bit like going to a virtual knit and natter group, and everyone there is really lovely and helpful.

We look forward to you sharing your WIPs with us and we will be using hashtags #WOTSMAL #kcacouk and #yarnwhisperer if you want to tag us on social.

You can save the image below to share on socials that you are joining in with #WOTSMAL

๐ŸŒŠ You can also save the project as a favourite on Ravelry here. ๐ŸŒŠ

We do hope that you will join both Kitey and myself for this fun make-along – we can’t wait to see your wonderful new projects come to life!
