Create a Colourful Bold Block Pillow for Your Home Decor

Hello my lovelies – I hope you’re all keeping well and finding plenty of time to enjoy a bit of crochet! Today I have a colourful and contemporary home décor project to share with you: the Bold Block Pillow.

Available now in the latest issue of Simply Crochet magazine, if you love playing with colour and adding a handmade touch to your home, this could be just the project for you.

The Bold Block Pillow is all about making a statement with colour and simple geometric shapes. I opted for a bright and cheerful colour palette for my version to create a design that really catches the eye and adds a lovely pop of colour to a room.

What you need for the pattern

For my Bold Block Pillow I used some Yarnsmiths Merino DK which I used with a 4mm (US G/6) hook.

If you’re not familiar with Yarnsmiths Merino DK, it’s made from 100% Wool, [50g / 110 metres] that’s available in lots of solid shades. It’s a lovely smooth textured yarn that’s as soft as silk and as smooth as butter – I know I’ll definitely be using more of this yarn in the future.

The only other things you will need for this pattern is a 18inch (approx. 45.7cm) bright zip and a 16 x 24inch pillow inner (approx. 40 x 50cm).

One of the things I love about this design is how versatile it could be. Although I chose brights for my pillow, you could easily tailor the colours to suit your own decor. Think soft neutrals for a calm and contemporary look, earthy shades for a more natural feel, or a sophisticated combination of two or threee complementary colours. I think it would be so exciting to see all the different colour combinations you come up with.
