Tis’ the season for Gingerbread Men and there’s a new crochet pattern and yarn pack in my Deramores shop that you don’t have to worry about going out of date!

I’ve got a bit of a thing about Gingerbread men – I just think they are totally Chrismassy! Whether it’s building a Gingerbread House or making the little men themselves, it’s something that always has a place in our house during the holidays.

This weekend was National Gingerbread Decorating Day apparently (usually the second Saturday in December) so it seems totally appropriate for me to share with you my fully decorated ginger guy!

© Deramores 2021

I made my Gingerbread Man with the rather apply named Deramores Studio DK Gingerbread! I also used a small amount of Frost, Peridot and Ruby for his frosting, buttons and bowtie all with a 3.25mm hook. The pattern is available as just the digital download or as a kit which you can pick up here.

🎄 Add the pattern to your favourites on Ravelry 🎄

When he’s finished he stands approx. 30cm tall – perfect to use as a stocking filler or as a festive ornament on your shelf. So run run as fast as you can to Deramores to catch him up today.

If you were looking for more general amigurumi designs to make then you can find several different patterns in my Deramores Designer Shop. Or if you are looking for Christmas makes in general I’ve put together a bundle on Ravelry with links to all my free and paid for seasonal patterns.

I hope you’ll share your photos with me on social media (facebooktwitter or instagram) or as a project on Ravelry – I love to see what you make! And finally you may wish to make sure you are signed up to blog (below) and / or my mailing list to get a reminder when new blog posts, discounts or new pattern releases are available.

Until next time folks! Happy hooking and keep calm and crochet on my friends xx

Mini Crochet Kits | Tree and Gingerbread Ornaments

December seems to be positively flying by does it! I had meant to add this post to the blog before now, but before it’s truly too late I need to tell you about two mini crochet kits that are now available in my Etsy store.

At the most recent Crochet Sanctuary I was delighted to be able to share a little pop up shop with the other guests with a range of my KCACOUK, Yarnybobs and Dear Ewe products.

On that weekend I debuted a couple of brand new mini crochet kits for sale that went down very well, and I’ve listed the remaining limited amount in my KCACOUKDesigns store if you’d like one too. You can choose from either a festive Christmas Tree or a cute Gingerbread man kit – perfect to add a touch of handmade magic to your home.

🎄 Add the Gingerbread pattern to your favourites on Ravelry 🎄

Each kit contains 3 mini balls of Scheepjes Catona, the pattern and either beads or buttons all wrapped up in a cute reusable bauble! You could either treat yourself, or the crochet lover in your life as they would make a lovely gift for any crocheter.

🎄 Add the Christmas Tree pattern to your favourites on Ravelry 🎄

I’m shutting up all the Etsy shop’s for Christmas when my children break up from school on Friday 17 December 2021 so there’s still time to order if you’d like one for your tree.

I hope you’ll share your photos with me on social media (facebooktwitter or instagram) or as a project on Ravelry – I love to see what you make! And finally you may wish to sign up to blog (below) and / or my mailing list to get a reminder when new blog posts, discounts or new pattern releases are available.

Deramores | O’ Christmas Tree

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree, how lovely are thy branches! There’s only 8 days left of November (eek) which means that Christmas tree time will soon be upon us! So I’m here to tell you about a couple of tree-mendously cute festive patterns that I’ve got in my Deramores shop that you might just want to tree-t yourself too.

© Deramores 2021

The first is a little tree-ditional looking Christmas tree pincushion, which is the perfect festive accessory to keep your pins and needles organised in the lead up to Christmas. It comes with a lifetime guaran-tree that it won’t drop any pins on the floor, and I think it would make a fun little stocking filler or Secret Santa gift.

I made my tree with Deramores Studio DK yarn in Fir, Gingerbread and a small amount of Mustard with a 3.25mm hook. The pattern is available as just the digital download or as a kit which you can pick up here.

🎄 Add the pattern to your favourites on Ravelry 🎄

You might also like to add a sprinkle of Christmas magic to your workspace with a crocheted desktop Christmas tree which stands at approx. 36cm tall – perfect for bringing the cheer to those around you this holiday season.

This tree was also made with Deramores Studio DK yarn this time using Fir, Chocolate, Paprika and Citrine with a 3.25mm hook. The pattern is available as just the digital download or as a kit which you can pick up here. Please note the colours for the baubles are not included in the kit, you only need such small amounts that you could either use stash or you could purchase some of the smaller 50g Deramores Studio DK balls of yarn in a specific colour to match your own décor.

Deramores | Dutch Bunnies

EDITED: With the closure of Deramores in 2022, the place where pattern is available has now changed. Please see this updated post for new links for this particular design.

Hey folks, hope you are all well, I’ve got an ear-resistibly cute pattern to share with you today, some cute Dutch Bunnies! These little guys make me so hoppy!

© Deramores 2021

Easily identifiable by there characteristic colour patterns these little bunnies are ready to be ad-hop-ted! Essentially, Dutch Bunnies are a white rabbit, with a colored base coat like black, brown, grey or tortoiseshell.

For my little Dutch Bunnies I used Deramores Studio DK in Frost (White), Chocolate and Gingerbread with a 3mm hook. But it would be easy to match your own pet colour if that’s something you wanted to try, as there are lots of different natural shades, in the Studio DK range, to choose from.

If you aren’t familiar with Deramores Studio DK it’s 100% acrylic anti-piling yarn which is fab for any projects that might see a lot of wear and tear – like cuddly bunnies!

HOTH | Eevee Amigurumi

For my youngest daughters birthday this year she asked me to make her a Eevee Pokemon toy – I think she was hugely influenced by her big sister, who is, in her own words, a Pokemon fanatic. Never one to turn down a request to make them something I set to finding a pattern.

Luckily I remembered that in Issue 67 of Crochet Now magazine there happened to be a fabulous official Eevee Pokemon character, by Sabrina Somers, that I’d seen. Unfortunately that particular issue was no longer on sale, but I was able to get the back issue from the CraftStash website. A couple of days later the magazine arrived and I was able to get started.

There’s actually something really relaxing working on someone else’s pattern for a change. As a designer I’m having to make all the decisions and, don’t get me wrong I absolutely love the creativity of designing, but it’s very refreshing to just be able to sit and crochet something without having to work things out!

The suggested yarn was Phildar Phil Coton 3, but for my Eevee I used Deramores Studio DK in Frost, Latte and Chocolate that I’d got in my stash with a 3.25mm hook. If you aren’t familiar with Deramores Studio DK it’s lovely soft 100% acrylic anti-piling yarn which is fab for making amigurumi with as it doesn’t get all bobbly over time like some other yarns can – I’ve used it for many amigurumi in the past.

After working up the pattern, to finish her off, I used my trusty glue gun to add some black felt eyes and nose, and I used a pet brush, (which I bought solely for brushing yarn not pets), for her fluffy collar.

The pattern was very easy to follow and resulted in, what I think, is a very cute Eevee toy at the end. My daughter loves her, and both daughters have enjoyed playing games with her.

If you were looking for some more crochet Pokemon patterns, then the pattern I made is also available in a book officially licensed by The Pokemon Company, along with another 19 other characters.

It’s by Sabrina Somers, called Pokemon Crochet and is available on Amazon; it looks like a really fun book with many of the Pokemon favourites (or the Pokemon I know the names of included like Pikachu, Squirtle, Magikarp and Charmander.

I thoroughly enjoyed making my Eevee and would definitely recommend the pattern for anyone on the look out for Pokemon projects.

What have you been making lately? Something fun? I’d love to hear about it – drop me a comment below.

Until next time folks! Happy hooking, keep calm and crochet on my friends xx

Deramores | Bride and Groom

Edit: Links to Deramores removed after it’s closure in January 2022

It’s June, it’s traditionally a time thought of as wedding season, so it seems highly appropriate that I’m going to talk weddings, or more specifically about a mini crocheted bride and groom set that’s now available from my Deramores Designer Shop

Sadly, due to COVID-19 times, weddings have been a little different to the norm recently, but here’s hoping with vaccines and all the steps that we have put into place with various lockdowns to keep people safe, that we are hopefully moving in the right direction for more normal weddings in the future.

Until then these mini bride and groom could be a really fun addition for a future wedding celebration as wedding cake toppers, as table decorations or just as a sweet keepsake for someone – I’m really excited to see where you go with these!

👰 Add the pattern to your favourites on Ravelry 🤵

For my little bride and groom I used Deramores Studio DK in Frost, Latte, Peridot, Light Pink, Blush, Chocolate and Ebony with a 3.25mm hook. If you aren’t familiar with Deramores Studio DK it’s lovely soft 100% acrylic anti-piling yarn which is fab for making amigurumi with as it doesn’t get all bobbly over time like some other yarns can.

It could be a great way to add that handmade touch to your wedding day, as the mini bride and groom can totally be mixed and matched, make two brides, two grooms, change hair colour, add things like wire spectacles or other accessories and change the flowers / bowtie colours for that personalised wedding feel.

If you were on the look out for more patterns, for adding that element of handmade to a wedding, then I have a couple more patterns you may like including; the FREE Shining Light wedding wrap or the Floral Mandala Ring Cushion.

If you do make up a bride and groom I hope you will share pictures on social channels using the hashtag #Deramores and #kcacouk so we can share your wonderful work.

I’m delighted to announce a brand new puppy pattern for you in collaboration with Deramores and Wood Green, The Animal Charity. Meet the official Wood Green Dera-Dog that’s looking for its fur-ever home!

The partnership has been designed to bring crafting communities together to support animals in need. Wood Green is a pet charity that makes a difference to the lives of pets and people across the UK.  As a charity they help rehome pets into loving homes and also educate and supports pet owners, so that they can enjoy a mutually rewarding and happy relationship with their pets.

Deramores | Unicorns and Elephants

Edit: Links to Deramores removed after it’s closure in January 2022

Are you a unicorn fan? There’s a new unicorn in my Deramores Designer Shop if you were after a pattern.

If you follow me in other places then you may have had a sneek peep at these guys – my plan was to write up a blog post back in January but having everyone home (due to the UK being back in lockdown at the moment) is kicking my behind in terms of productivity! So whilst the kids are amused I’ve snuck into the other room to write this up.

❤️ SHOP UNICORN PATTERN FROM DERAMORES ❤️

The patterns is available as a kit in two different colourways pastel pink or rainbow, my youngest daughter particularly likes the pink unicorn, or as just a digital pattern download.

For both unicorns I used Deramores Studio DK and a 3mm hook. If you are a follower of this blog you’ll know that I’ve used Deramores Studio DK for several designs and projects and I really enjoy working with it, it’s a lovely soft and squishy yarn.

© Deramores 2021

❤️ SAVE UNICORNS ON RAVELRY ❤️

I also used Deramores Studio DK for another design that’s also available in my Deramores Shop. It’s a mummy and baby elephant, which I wanted to have a bit of a vintage feel.

❤️ SHOP ELEPHANTS PATTERN FROM DERAMORES ❤️

The elephants are actually designed to be worked in one piece, so the only parts you sew on are the ears and the tail! The legs and trunk are worked directly onto the body for a seam free look.

I think these amigurumi toys are perfect for your little ones to use in safari play, or as some friends for them to snuggle up to.

Like the unicorns you can pick up the elephant family as either a single pattern, for £1 / $1.30, or as a kit with everything you need (pattern, yarn, safety eyes and stuffing).

❤️ SAVE ELEPHANTS ON RAVELRY ❤️

If you are looking for more cute crochet projects to hook up there are bears, bunny’s, dogs, cats, donkey’s and horses and poppies all available in my Deramores Designer Shop

As always if you hook up the Unicorns or Elephants I hope you’ll tag kcaco.uk and Deramores on Instagram or share your projects in my Facebook group as I love to see your finished work!

Until next time folks! Happy hooking, keep calm and crochet on my friends xx

New Crochet Pattern | Deramores Polar Bear

Brrr things are certainly feeling rather chilly here in the UK… it feels positivity Arctic! Which allows me to neatly segway into telling you about my new design – who would feel right at home in the cold!

Paul the crocheted polar bear amigurumi pattern wrapped up in a crocheted blanket

Allow me to present Paul the playful Polar Bear who is ready for some frosty fun with his pretty white fur and cute grey paw pads.  He’s an adorable soft amigurumi friend for the little ones in your family to cuddle with, or for playtime at the zoo.

I have to admit I’m not a fan of cold weather (or dark winter nights). I’m one of those people that more often than not feel cold, so much prefer being inside, wrapped up in a blanket, with the fire on, and with a crochet project on my knee – who’s with me!?

❤️ SAVE DERAMORES POLAR BEAR ON RAVELRY ❤️

For my polar bear I used Deramores Studio DK in Frost, Ebony and Smoke and a 3mm hook. If you are a follower of this blog you’ll know that I’ve used Deramores Studio DK for several designs and projects and I really enjoy working with it.

I really like anti-pilling yarn for anything I’m making for children as it’s great then for washing (which you can do at 40°C in the washing machine). If you wanted to make this bear for an under 3 year old you could always replace the safety eyes with some embroidered ones.

Paul the crocheted polar bear amigurumi is ready to tuck into some sardines!

The Polar Bear is now available in my Designer Shop; you can pick up either a single pattern, for £1 / $1.30, or the design as a kit with everything you need (pattern, yarn and stuffing) to make your polar bear.

As always if you hook up the Polar Bear I hope you’ll tag kcaco.uk on Instagram or share your projects in my Facebook group as I love to see your finished work!
