LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine | Mrs Christmas and the Little Elves

Issue 106 of LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine is out in shops now and it’s a thoroughly festive affair! I have two Christmas designs in this months issue and I was delighted that my Mrs Christmas is this months cover star! You can also see Figgy and Pudding, my other designs, on the cover on the left hand-side.

latest-issue

I’m a big Christmas fan! It’s definitely my favourite holiday, so when I was asked to design Mrs Christmas I quickly formed an image in my head of how I wanted her to look.  Because of this she came together quite quickly and the fluffy yarn, that comes with the kit, was just perfect for a bit of a blue rinse hair style under a traditional mop cap!

I was also asked to design some elves for this months edition – now this was a little bit more tricky because over the years I’ve designed 3 boy elves and 2 girl elves already! So with numbers 6 and 7 I was very conscious that I wanted not to even subconsciously make them look like the other designs.  But that’s what I love about making amigurumi there’s always a new way you can create little characters to make them unique – and I was really pleased with how Figgy and Pudding turned out in the end.

  • 65 exclusive patterns

Issue 103 of LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine is out in shops now and I’ve got a new fun design for the heritage toy special edition AND there’s some exciting things from Dear Ewe in this issue!

latest-issue

Once upon a time there were three bears who lived in a house in the forest. While they were out, a little girl called Goldilocks came through the trees and found their house and their porridge! We all know the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears don’t we, it’s something we just seem to grow up with so I was delighted to have the opportunity to recreate such well known characters is yarn.

Goldilocks, to my mind, has golden curls so I knew I was going to have to include that in my design…

And I really enjoyed creating the three bear characters. They were such fun to make and just perfect for little hands to accompany the much loved tale!

LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine | Russian Dolls and Cacti Collection

Issue 102 of LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine is out in shops now and I’ve got two exclusive patterns in this issue. You can just see a couple of them highlighted in the yellow star on the front cover!

latest-issue

The first of the patterns I designed for this issue were a cute pair of Russian dolls. I’ve always loved Russian dolls, my mum had a giant one with smaller dolls stacked within the bigger ones that I was obsessed with when I was little.  I think at it’s heart a Matryoshka is truly a doll and a child’s play thing so I was delighted to be given the chance to design a mother and daughter set.  I love how they turned out and you could really have fun with the tummy embellishments adding embroidery and maybe even beads to make your doll completely splendid!

LGC_102_114-WEB_medium2

This month I also got to design a cactus collection, I’m a little bit obsessed with cacti and succulents and we have a variety dotted all over our house – it was really fun to make these everlasting ones though. My favourite has to be the curly cacti which was a little bit different and for those that which to know is based on an Epiphyllum curly locks.
