Happily Hooked Magazine | Beelinda the Bee Fairy

Can you be ‘fairy’ certain that bees are not fairies in disguise? After all appearances can bee deceiving! With that intriguing thought I’d like to introduce you to Beelinda the Bee Fairy – the un-bee-lievably cute little fairy doll that’s sure to bring a smile to your face!

When she’s not off frolicking in the flowers she’ll be ready to enchant anyone who sees her. And her pattern is available now in the June 2022 edition of Happily Hooked Magazine.

Beelinda is most definitely the bee’s knees when it comes to imaginative play, or as a decorative addition to your home, and she’s sure to become a firm favourite with anyone that wants to sprinkle some of their very own floral fairy magic around.

For my version of Beelinda I used Ricorumi DK with a 3mm hook (closest US size D/3). If you are not not familiar with the yarn it is 100% Cotton which comes in 25g [57.5 meters] balls. I used six colours in total; just 1 ball of Nude (023), Saffron (063), Black (060), White (001), Nougat (056) and Fuchsia (014). I love Ricorumi DK for amigurumi as it comes in the cute little balls in loads of different colours so I can usually find the shades that I’m looking for.

It retails for about £1.25 per ball (approx. $1.67) so it’s perfect for when you need just a small amount of a colour – though it’s hard not to just want all 80 shades!

The only other materials you would need are 2 x 8mm black safety eyes, toy stuffing, black sewing thread, a yarn needle and some blusher (optional, but it’s just normal makeup).

If you love bees or fairies then you need to add this cute crochet fairy doll to your collection! Beelinda is just waiting to share her magic with you.

LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine |Spring Lambs and Bonny Bonnets

I know it’s been a couple of weeks since my last post, but it’s because I’ve been frantically working on some fun projects behind the scenes that have just taken up my time. That does mean lots to show you soon though!

However I’ve got a couple of new patterns that have just been released in the latest issue of LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine. And if you are longing for sunshine and Spring, like I am, then these might just be the ticket!

© Let’s Get Crafting Magazine – Issue 119

How about a little pocket sized sheep! This little lamb is such a cute little project and is a quick and fun springtime project. If you decorate for Easter or for the changing of the seasons Mandy the Lamb would look great sitting on a shelf or your mantlepiece.

SAVE MANDY LAMB ON RAVELRY HERE

I also had fun creating a sweet little bunny bonnet which was modelled amazingly by baby Dylan, that gummy smile!! I used felt that I cut out and sewed onto a crochet ear shape, it seemed to work really well and helped give the ears a little more structure.

There are lots of other fab things in this month’s edition too –  the patterns I particularly love are the Decorative Eggs by Sarah Shrimpton, because eggs are always and ‘eggsellent’ idea to hook up for Easter, and I also love the Root Veg by Sarah Louise Read!

LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine | Christmas Car and Everly Elf

I know it’s only the beginning of November but as a crafter you are probably thinking a little bit about Christmas already am I right? And probably have started making already!

I know it takes time to make the perfect gift but I thought I’d tell you about a couple of projects that have just been released in the latest issue of LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine. They don’t take too long if you are still looking for some fun things to make.

In the latest edition of the magazine (on sale now) I’ve created a fun Christmas Coupe complete with a detachable Christmas tree. I love how the magazine have styled it! It looks just like a Christmas card don’t you think!

© Let’s Get Crafting – Issue 116

It was such a fun design to make, in fact I’m thinking of designing something similar but much much smaller as a Christmas ornament if I get the time! I love crocheting ornaments, do you?

Also in this issue I had fun creating a new little elf character. Everly the Elf is a bit of a mischievous character, she recently tried to make some mince pies for everyone at the magazine – but she seems to have gotten into a bit of a pickle!

© Let’s Get Crafting – Issue 116

Again such cute styling in this issue, it really is making me feel rather Christmassy. And you’ve got to have elves around at Christmas haven’t you! They are the ones that make the toys in Santa’s workshop and take care of his reindeer after all!

There are lots of other fab things in this month’s edition too –  the patterns I particularly love are the crochet (and knit) Father Christmas by Sachiyo Ishii, which are both adorable, and the tic tac toe christmas game by Hannah Cooper is such a sweet idea! And although I can’t personally knit I absolutely love the look of the Toy Soldiers (on the front cover) by Sachiyo Ishii and the Mini Jumpers by Dawn Finney too.

LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine | Right Royal Couple

There’s nothing quite like a royal wedding is there. The pomp! The splendour! The feverish anticipation of the dress! And it’s time for a royal wedding in the latest issue of LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine

© Let’s Get Crafting Issue 113

In the latest edition of the magazine (on sale now) I’ve created a sweet smiling princess and a handsome prince who are ready to celebrate their perfect day with a summer wedding.

Royalty and romance are at the heart of this union, with the groom wearing his best tunic and epaulettes whilst the bride dazzles with her modern pink dress with puffed sleeves and bell skirt.

You’ll need some extra yarn to make both the pair but apart from slight differences in the arms, tunic bottom and skirt both little dolls are worked the same.

SAVE ROYAL WEDDING DOLLS PATTERN ON RAVELRY HERE

There are lots of other fab things in this month’s edition too –  the patterns I particularly love are Circus Sam by Sarah Louise Read, which is adorable, and I also love the play food Tart Slices by Hannah Cooper. And although I can’t personally knit well enough to make it I love Destiny Dragon by Sachiyo Ishii.

There are 43 exclusive patterns in this months edition along with news, articles and tips in the 74 page magazine. It also comes with an eight ball yarn pack which has two balls of the coral pink so you have enough yarn to make the Princesses dress.

LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine | Elena Elephant and Circle Bag

I’m delighted to say that if you check out the latest edition of LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine then you’ll see my little Elena the Elephant as the cover star! Squeak!

© Let’s Get Crafting Issue 112

In Issue 112 you can find the lovely Elena the Elephant (on page 13) with her lovely bright sparkly outfit and the frilly tutu that all elephants need!

I enjoyed designing Elena; who wouldn’t love the concept of a circus elephant! I may also have been singing Nellie the Elephant song to myself whilst I was making this project too – I think Nellie totally would have rocked a tutu like Elena’s don’t you!

Then on page 56 I’ve got another fun project for you. You can totally step out in style with this colour clash bag!

The inspiration behind the bag design was those magic eye pictures (if you remember them) or illusions where the image is sort of skewed. I love the contrasting effect the design on the bag creates.

Issue 112 is a lovely bright issue and the other patterns I like in this month are the Jolly Jellyfish by Sarah Louise Reed, which are very cute and the Space Buddies by Hannah Cooper. Both fab patterns for amigurumi fans!

And although I can’t knit I love the Road Trip caravan set by Nicola Valiji’s which I’m sure loads of people are going to love and the little Koala by Sachiyo Ishii. The koala’s are available for FREE in both knit or crochet and are both extremely cute!

There are 50 exclusive patterns in this months edition along with news, articles and tips for stash sorting in the 66 page magazine. It also comes with a Tropical themed yarn pack which has one special ball of sparkly yarn which the magpie in me loved.

LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine | Bedtime Betsy and Custom Keyrings

It’s that time of the new month when the latest LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine is out on sale. Issue 111 is out now and it’s a corker and I’ve got a couple of fun patterns in it’s pages.

On page 13 you’ll find Bedtime Betsy. She’s a sweet little doll that would make a great companion to encourage a child to sleep. I’m certainly always ready to try anything where that’s concerned – my toddler still hasn’t got the message that sleep is a good thing!

© Let’s Get Crafting Issue 111

I’ve designed her so that she has removable nightie and slippers – I was thinking that your little one’s could then take part in the bedtime routine with Betsy as they get ready for bed. Plus she’s also got her own cuddly bear companion so there’s everything you need when it’s time to snuggle down.

Then on page 20 you can see my custom key-rings. These were such a fun project and I love the idea of using them with a positive message label!

Because I’m a bit of a tea-belly I have to say that the tiny tea cup is my favourite and I’ll definitely be making another one of those for sure! I think my daughters favourite is the ice-cream so I’m going to make her another one of those to add to her book bag for school.

I was also chuffed to be asked this month to contribute to an article, which you can find on pages 50-51) titled ‘Why do we craft’. It really is an inspiring read as many fabulous different designers share the reasons they craft and what fuels their creativity.

There are lots of other fab things in this month’s edition too;  there’s an exclusive interview with Debbie Bliss (and a bonus pattern) and there’s 10 free Stylecraft patterns free in an additional leaflet.

The patterns I particularly love this month are the Happy Monsters by Hannah Cooper, which are just so darned cute, and I also love the Plant Hanger by Ella M Austin, I’ve been seeing crochet plant hanger patterns a lot lately and I really want to make one!

And although I can’t knit I’m completely in love with Mary Puffins (that name made me laugh probably more than it should!) the pattern of which is by Sachiyo Ishii and I also love the stripy knitted men’s socks pattern by Dawn Finney.

LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine | Marmalade the Cat and Kangaroo Cuties

Issue 108 of LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine is on sale now and I’ve got two new patterns inside for you.

The first is Marmalade the Cat who has a big ole grin like a Cheshire cat as he’s pleased as punch to be in the magazine. Ever so dapper in his bow tie and dungarees he’s ready to go on an adventure to Timbuktu (didn’t all adventures go there at some point? They always seemed to when I was little!).

I also designed some Kangaroo Cuties – who I named Karla and Karl. Baby Karl can pop out of mum’s pouch if he wants to roam around a bit in the Australia outback. I tell you what we could do with a bit of the Auzzie summer right now – it’s been so cold here in the UK the last few days, we even had some snow!

LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine | Mrs Christmas and the Little Elves

Issue 106 of LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine is out in shops now and it’s a thoroughly festive affair! I have two Christmas designs in this months issue and I was delighted that my Mrs Christmas is this months cover star! You can also see Figgy and Pudding, my other designs, on the cover on the left hand-side.

latest-issue

I’m a big Christmas fan! It’s definitely my favourite holiday, so when I was asked to design Mrs Christmas I quickly formed an image in my head of how I wanted her to look.  Because of this she came together quite quickly and the fluffy yarn, that comes with the kit, was just perfect for a bit of a blue rinse hair style under a traditional mop cap!

LGC106-140_medium2

I was also asked to design some elves for this months edition – now this was a little bit more tricky because over the years I’ve designed 3 boy elves and 2 girl elves already! So with numbers 6 and 7 I was very conscious that I wanted not to even subconsciously make them look like the other designs.  But that’s what I love about making amigurumi there’s always a new way you can create little characters to make them unique – and I was really pleased with how Figgy and Pudding turned out in the end.

LGC106-103_medium2

I love the styling for this months magazine and if it’s seasonal amigurumi you are looking for then this edition is just full of Christmas toys!

This issue comes with a six wonderland yarns which are lovely pastel Christmas colours;

  • 3mm hook & 3mm knitting needles
  • 65 exclusive patterns
  • Plus… your 68 page magazine

LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine is available in major supermarkets and newsagents across the UK.  If you hook up either Mrs Christmas or the Little Elves please share your photos with me on social media (facebooktwitter or instagram) – I love to see what you make! So why not hop to it and get your copy of the magazine now!

Until next time folks! Happy hooking, keep calm and crochet on my friends xx

Issue 103 of LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine is out in shops now and I’ve got a new fun design for the heritage toy special edition AND there’s some exciting things from Dear Ewe in this issue!

latest-issue

Once upon a time there were three bears who lived in a house in the forest. While they were out, a little girl called Goldilocks came through the trees and found their house and their porridge! We all know the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears don’t we, it’s something we just seem to grow up with so I was delighted to have the opportunity to recreate such well known characters is yarn.

Goldilocks, to my mind, has golden curls so I knew I was going to have to include that in my design…

LGC_103-Insta

And I really enjoyed creating the three bear characters. They were such fun to make and just perfect for little hands to accompany the much loved tale!

LGC_103-050-WEB_medium2
