Hello my lovelies – I hope you’re all buzzing with creativity today! I’ve got something truly sweet to share with you… a crochet design fit for royalty. I’m delighted to reveal my new pattern featured in Simply Crochet magazine Issue 173, may I present Queen Beeatrix, the elegantly dressed queen bee who’s ready to rule your hook with style! 🐝👑

Queen Beeatrix isn’t just a tiny insect friend – she’s a stately sovereign with a crown, dress, and all the pomp and circumstance you could wish for in a crochet companion. With her kind eyes, dainty wings and beautifully detailed royal attire, she makes an unforgettable make and a truly special gift for anyone who loves whimsical amigurumi or bee‑inspired creations.

This cute little royal measures approximately 12cm (4¾in) tall – perfect if you’re looking for a project that strikes just the right balance between charming and uniquely decorative. Whether she’s perched on a shelf, styled into spring décor, or heading off to brighten someone’s day, she’s sure to rule hearts everywhere.

I would say that Queen Beeatrix is a great make for adventurous beginners who have experiencing in making amigurumi – the pattern uses simple stitches and clear shaping, so you can build confidence as you go. I think she would make the perfect gift for that special someone who’s truly the bee’s knees – or your very own queen B perhaps!

What you need for the pattern

For my Queen Beeatrix I used some Ricorumi DK which is a firm favourite yarn of mine. Ricorumi DK is a 100% cotton yarn that comes in 25g balls [57.5m] in that’s available in lots of solid shades, I also used some Ricorumi Lame in gold to add a bit of bling to Beeatrix’s outfit

Then the only other things you need for Queen Beeatrix are:

a 3.25mm hook (US size D/3)
some stitch markers
a tapestry needle
some toy stuffing
some black embroidery thread
and a pair of 6mm black safety eyes
some blusher (optional)

Crochet Pattern | Coronation Chicken Amigurumi

Hi, how are you doing today? I’ve got something a little fun and tongue in cheek to share with you. I really wanted to come up with a commemorative project for the forthcoming King’s Coronation – and well all I could think of was coronation chicken…so that’s what I’ve made!

Meet Colin the Coronation Chicken, a eggs-traordinarily hen-some fellow who would make a great commemorative souvenir or gift for a royalty lover.

He’s im-peck-ably dressed for the occasion in a hen-semble of sash, crown and ermine trimmed cloak – aren’t my chicken puns just heir-larious!

I made Colin with a 3mm hook and some Ricorumi DK from my stash. I love Ricorumi DK especially for amigurumi as it comes in loads of different colours.

Made of 100% cotton this smooth-finished yarn comes in cute 25g [57.5 meters] balls just perfect for projects where you just want to use a small amount of a particular colour.

Colin’s crown, sceptre and orb are made from Rico Ricorumi Lamé DK – Gold (002) which is super sparkly yarn perfectly suited to royal accessories. It comes in 10g [50m] and is made from 62% polyester and 38% nylon.

The only other things you need to make Colin are 2 x 6mm black safety eyes, stitch markers, some black embroidery thread,a tapestry needle and some toy stuffing. His finished size is 16cm / 6.3 inches high from bottom to top of his crown.

The majority of this pattern is worked in amigurumi style, using continuous rounds, and then the parts are sewn together using the mattress stitch.

Of course if you didn’t want to deck him out in his finery then Colin makes a very cute rooster which could look great as part of your Spring or farmhouse style decor.

Crochet Pattern Release & Discount Code| Reginald the Royal Rat

According to the Chinese Horoscope the year 2020 is the year of the Metal Rat! So I decided my first design for this year would be a little rat made in ‘metal’ grey yarn. Allow me to introduce Reginald the Royal Rat!

Reginald, as befitting someone born in the year of the rat, is an industrious, thrifty, diligent and positive wee fellow. He can accommodate himself to different circumstances quickly and get clear about his surroundings – which makes him perfect as an ornament to have on your shelf or desk at work.

Did you know that the Rat is the first of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar. According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived to his party. I personally thing Reginald is dressed fit for any occasion he might find himself in – what do you think?

Reginald is made from Scheepjes Catona that I’d got in my stash and some gold Scheepjes Lizzy thread for his crown – my inner magpie is still not ready to put away the sparkle yet after Christmas!

The Year of the Rat is going to bring us creative energy where everyone will show determination regarding their goals, aspirations, and hobbies! So why not harness your amigurumi making abilities to hook up this regal little project.
