2025 KCACOUK Recap and plans for 2026

Hi there, and welcome! This post is all about looking back on my crochet adventures from 2025. I always find yearly reviews so helpful – it’s funny how quickly I forget what I’ve accomplished once my thoughts jump straight to the next idea.

Collage of designs from Keep Calm and Crochet On UK that were released in 2025.

As we begin another year together, I want to start by saying the biggest THANK YOU to each and every one of you. πŸ’– Whether you’ve purchased a pattern, tried a kit, joined a make-along, or simply liked, shared, or commented on my blog posts or social media, your support truly means the world to me.

January / February 2025

The year began at a wonderfully busy pace, I shared a book review for the The Art of Crochet with Sock Weight Yarn and I had seven patterns released in just the first two months. I was thrilled to share Griff the Grizzly Bear and Flurry and Frost the Penguin Twins in our Crochet & Knitting magazine, Issue 50, and the Soft Swirl Cowl and Suki the Sakura Doll for Crochet Now issue 117.

In the January I released the new Sleepy Bear Wash Cloth, and I also shared the FREE Paperback Patch Square I was going to use for my year long Book Afghan project for 2025. I’m hoping to share the finished book blanket soon alongside my plans for my book challenge for 2026 as I enjoyed 2025 so much. I also shared my plans for My Hand-Dyed Yarn Challenge 2025 more of which I’ll talk about later – but in a nutshell it didn’t go quite to plan!

I also released my Merry Marble Cowl which was the finished design for the Merry Marbles Makealong which was the winter 2024 collaboration between myself, The Yarn Whisperer, and Mrs G Makes – I’ve remade this cowl again recently and it’s definitely one of my favourite makes in recent years.

March / April 2025

March / April was extremely busy with another six designs that I enjoyed creating. First I was thrilled to have three patterns published in issue 119 of Crochet Now magazine including Cinderwhiskers the Cat, Millie & Mollie the Mushroom Twins and the Heatherside Blanket all of which form part of my favourite patterns of this year.

Two crocheted mushroom characters with white spots and hats, posed on wooden slices against a pink background, with small decorative mushrooms and greenery in the scene.

I was also delighted to have a pattern shared in Inside Crochet magazine with the Chevron Neck Tie and another design in April for issue 120 of Crochet Now the nautically cute Captain Beakerson. Then I also released the FREE Easter Egg Belly Buddies – cute little guys which have a hollow tummy, just the right size for tucking in a chocolate egg or a tiny treat.

Five colorful crocheted animals, including bunnies in green, blue, and pink, and a yellow chick, each holding a Cadbury chocolate egg, set against a white background with decorative elements.

May / June 2025

In May I released our popular Curtis the Cactus crochet kit, with his dashing moustache, sun-kissed yellow sun visor, and laid-back messenger bag slung over his shoulder, Curtis has been making a cool addition to desks, plant shelves, and window sills everywhere.

I also released the new Diamond Daydream Baby Blanket which has also been well received – I love the thought of one of my designs wrapping up a baby somewhere ❀️. Then another filet crochet project released shortly afterwards was the Oriana Wrap in Crochet Now Issue 121. I do love a filet crochet project and I’m sure there will be more in 2026.

Special mention for June’s makes of Peanuts Crochet Collection that I had the opportunity to make for the Crochet Society. I loved making these guys and the kits are still available if you want to make them too, you can find the links to each of the kits on my blog post.

June also saw the Bright Burst Baskets published in Simply Crochet magazine and Triple the Fun in Crochet Now Issue 122 with Scoops the Panda, Moominmamma and Moominpappa and the Sunshade Scallops Shawlette. Finally at the end of June I released the Janus Keyhole Scarf designed to showcase your favourite skeins of hand dyed yarn – in fact I think I might make myself another one of these at some point.

July / August 2025

In July, I was delighted to take part once again in the Furls Designer Blog Hop 2025, releasing the FREE Forester Shawl – a big, bold, and incredibly cosy design, perfect for those in-between seasons. I also shared a blog post about the fun I had at Carry On Crafting over the summer. Then in August I created the two marshfellows, Coco and Puff, and a bit later Redfern the Squirrel for Crochet Now magazine, and also the Mandala Medallion Square for Simply Crochet’s Granny Square Day 2025.

Without doubt one of my favourite commissions was in August when I got to relive my childhood by creating the Carebear Crochet Collection for the Crochet Society. I loved making these bears, and like the Peanuts collection the kits are still available if you want to make them too, you can find the links to each of the bears on this blog post.

September / October 2025

The start of September brought more Care Bears, but this time in tiny Halloween-themed versions β€” perfect for a little seasonal fun! πŸŽƒπŸ‘» And in the same issue of Crochet Now magazine, you could also find Spooktail the Cat, adding a touch of spooky charm to your hooky projects.

I also shared a new blog post all about Stretching Your Stash: How Affordable Premium Yarns Can Make Your Hand-Dyed Treasures Shine, exploring ways to combine different yarns to create stunning results without breaking the bank. 🧢✨

In October, I finally got around to a couple of pattern re-releases, including Perfectly Plaid Basket and the Patchwork Braid Pillow, bringing these designs back into circulation for new and returning makers alike.

A cozy crochet cushion in a mint green color, featuring textured cable patterns and wooden buttons, placed on a light beige sofa with two blue pillows.

I was also excited to start working with Utopia Crafts, sharing the FREE Utopia Neutral Pumpkin on their website – a quick, cosy seasonal project for anyone wanting a touch of autumnal charm.

And finally, I had the absolute pleasure of designing Totally Hooked Box 57 for The Crochet Society, which featured three distinct patterns: Festive Snoopy, Arctic Whisper Hat & Mitts, and the Winter Wonderland Stocking. Each one offered a little bit of seasonal magic to crochet into your home and wardrobe.

November / December 2025

At the start of November I wrote a blog post about my visit to see the Longest Yarn 2 exhibition (which is you get the chance to visit I highly recommend). You may also remember that in November 2024 I re-released my Poppy pattern to support the Royal British Legion and their poppy campaign. I’m thrilled to share that the pattern has raised over Β£600 in 2025 β€” absolutely incredible! ❀️ I really hope we can continue to raise money for this cause in 2026.

A close-up of several red crochet poppies with black centers and green leaves, placed together on a light background.

There was another design in Simply Crochet magazine for Argyll the Reindeer, and Razzle and Dazzle the Elves appeared in Crochet Now magazine. Next up were a couple of favourites of mine, Noel Nibbles Tree Ornament and Father Tedmas – I love creating Christmas creations, it’s one of my favourite times of year. I also re-released the Cherie Plaid Wrap pattern – a beautifully large and cosy wearable accessory perfect for layering up your winter wardrobe.

Then in December I shared more Christmassy makes but I started off with Hamish the Highland Cow crochet kit, who has been the star of our shows throughout the year. I also shared my delight in having 8 different seasonal patterns published in the Christmas Amigurumi Bookazine, including Father Christmas, Mrs Claus, Tinsel the Elf, Cinnamon the Gingerbreadman, Dasher the Reindeer and Crispin the Snowman. I then shared another three new tree decoration crochet kits with the Teddy Stocking, Angel and Santa kits.

I then finished off the year of designs with the Delft Dreams Cowl in Crochet Now magazine, the FREE Mrs Claus Hair Bow and then finally the Snowman Chocolate Orange Cozy to round things off – phew!

Coming up for 2026

So what can you look forward to in 2026? Well, if I’m being completely honest, this is the year I really need to concentrate on getting some patterns released. It’s been such a busy time behind the scenes that actually sitting down and finishing patterns for release has proved trickier than planned – but this year I’m making it a proper priority. This may mean I’m remaking some old designs to give them a bit of a refresh which is something else I’ll be trying to make time for this year.

A colourful crochet project with a crochet hook, a ball of multicoloured yarn, and a coffee cup on a table.

And yes… I know I said it last year, but 2026 is definitely the year of the WIP purge! I’m determined to finish up those long-standing works-in-progress and clear some space (both physically and creatively) before adding too many new ones to the pile.

Alongside that, I’m hoping to squeeze in some more fun too – including a few personal crochet challenges, some exciting new blog hops, and of course collaborations that I can’t wait to share with you. There are also plans in motion for new designs appearing in some of your favourite crochet magazines, which is always something I look forward to revealing. All in all, it’s shaping up to be another creative year, just with a little more focus and intention this time around.

I’d love to hear from you. What did you finish in 2025, or what are you most looking forward to making in 2026? Drop me a comment below and let’s have a chat πŸ’¬πŸ§Ά

Until next time; keep calm and crochet on my friends xx

Looking back at 2024 | And coming up…

Hi there, and welcome to my post where I reflect on my crochet adventures from 2024. I find reviewing the past year so helpfulβ€”it’s surprising how quickly I forget what has been accomplished as my mind races ahead to the next project!

Collage of designs from Keep Calm and Crochet On UK that were shared in 2024.

As we step into another year together I just want to start this post with the BIGGEST THANK YOU to each and every one of you. πŸ’– Whether you’ve bought a pattern, tried a kit, joined a make along, or simply liked, shared, or commented on my blog posts or social media β€” your support has meant the absolute world to me.

January / February 2024

At the start of the year I was delighted to share some designs in Crochet Now and Simply Crochet magazine including the Triple Ripple Wrap and the Cubist Wall hanging and the Tea Set in Your Crochet and Knitting magazine. There was also the gang of FREE Woolpup crochet patterns that I created for Woolbox which were a really fun commission.

Triple Ripple Wrap crochet pattern by Heather C Gibbs which appeared in CN103 of Crochet Now magazine.

The early months brought the re-release of two fan favourites: Lola the Lovebug, with her heart-shaped antennae, and Paul the Polar Bear, with his lovely white coat. Both patterns were updated and reintroduced in UK and US terms, and it felt great to check a couple such independent releases off my long list!

Critter Cloths crochet pattern by Heather C Gibbs, available from KCACOUK Designs from Etsy, Ravelry, LoveCrafts and Ribblr.

However one of my favourite designs from January last year was the Critter Washcloths I created for the 2024 Winter Washcloth Blog Hop. Don’t forget, the Winter Washcloth series is back for 2025, and I’ve got an exciting new design you won’t want to miss!

My second favourite design of Jan / Feb has to be my FREE Speckled Rainbow Wrap crochet pattern which features 58 colours – since I completed it, it’s a scarf that I wear ever such a lot.

Speckled Rainbow Wrap crochet pattern by Heather C Gibbs, available from KCACOUK Designs from Etsy, Ravelry, LoveCrafts and Ribblr or FREE on this blog.

March / April 2024

March / April was extremely busy! And there were a lot of patterns that I enjoyed creating. First there was the release of the brand new crochet kit, Bunty Bear, available both as a kit and a patternβ€”something I’ve been working towards, as requested. Then there was the Official Paddington Bear crochet pattern and the Official Moomins pattern for Crochet Now, which was such an honour to have a go at designing such iconic characters.

Equilibrium Wrap by Heather C Gibbs which appeared in the 'Balance' issue of Moorit crochet magazine.

I also had Zuri the neon Zebra featured in Simply Crochet magazine and I was delighted to be asked to take part in their fun Hook2Hook designer challenge again. But the pattern I’m going to choose as my favourite of March / April has to be Equilibrium Wrap which was featured in Moorit magazine – a delicate dance between stitches and space.

I was also really pleased to be asked to be interviewed by Lindsay, from the Making Stitches Podcast, in March where I had the pleasure of sharing my own journey into the world of crochet. And I also ticked another couple of re-released patterns off my list including the Dutch Bunnies and the FREE Jelly Bean Bunny.

Dutch Bunnies crochet pattern by Heather C Gibbs, available from KCACOUK Designs from Etsy, Ravelry, LoveCrafts and Ribblr.

Finally there were the new WoolCats crew to compliment the WoolPups gang for Woolbox. Phew! When I read all that back it does seem very busy couple of months!

May / June 2024

In May /June I shared a couple crochet book reviews; Hooked on Shakespeare and Crochet your own Dog which were really fun and I look forward to reviewing some more books in 2025.

There were also some more designs for magazines including Peaches the Pet Rabbit in Crochet Now, and I created a Green Hippo for Woolbox, but I think my favourite design during this period is my the Pretty Petals Sunflower Pincushion, which has been very a very popular crochet kit since it’s release. Not only handy for your pins it also doubles up as a handy storage pot for your stitch markers and small notions just by lifting up the flower from the base.

July / August 2024

Another busy couple of months with lots of new and re-released designs! We saw the re-release of the FREE Colbie Cowl crochet pattern, the FREE Bean Stitch mug cosy, and Gene the Gingerbread amigurumi as we celebrated a bit of Christmas in July. I was also overjoyed to take part in the Furls blog hop with the FREE Foundry Fusion Shawl which is a lovely big accessory to wrap yourself up in. I also had a lovely chat with Kitey in a new Fibre Friends article.

During the summer months I also released one of my favourite crochet kits of the year, Fletcher the Frog, for my Dear Ewe store. This was definitely another of the most popular crochet kits I made last year which included the kit selling out at the Wool@Jct13 show we did in the summer.

There were a few more designs for magazines including Freya the Squirrel for Your Crochet and Knitting magazine, I think definitely one of my favourites of these months was Elroy the Elephant for Crochet Now magazine.

Elroy the Elephant crochet pattern by Heather C Gibbs which appeared in CN110 of Crochet Now magazine.

I was also delighted to create two new granny square designs for Simply Crochet magazine for Granny Square Day 2024.

September / October 2024

Without doubt one of my favourites releases of early September was the Festival Fusion Cowl which was a special project created for lovely crochet friends at the Carry on Crafting Festival. I’ve made two version of this cowl now and they get a lot of wear! I also did another crochet book review for Radiant Raffia where I completed a lovely hanging basket for my aloe. I also re-released my Briar Blanket pattern which is a perfect cosy project to snuggle up.

In October there was also Jade the Witch and the Sugarplum Unicorn for Your Crochet and Knitting magazine and Ghoulie the Ghost Cushion for Crochet Now. I released two FREE crochet patterns with Jaunty Jack-o’-Lantern and the Feline Fancy headband.

October also saw another of my favourite designs of the year, the Mischievous Magpie Shawlette which was our Summer 2024 Makealong. This is a design that I’m proud of and I love how it turned out! And of course we are currently still working on our Winter 2024 Makealong, Merry Marbles, which will finish 31 January 2025. And there are already plans lined up for summer and winter makealongs for this year which are some lovely projects I’m certainly looking forward to.

November / December 2024

In November I re-released my Poppy pattern to support the Royal British Legion in their poppy campaign. I can say that the pattern raised Β£77.50 in 2024 which is fantastic, and I hope we can continue to raise money each year.

There were new patterns, like the Frosted Forest Houndstooth Wrap in I Like Crochet magazine, the Bloom and Grow Embroidered Beanie and Woodsy the Winter Owl and one of my favourite designs of the year the Sugarplum Beary in Crochet Now magazine.

Sugarplum Beary crochet pattern by Heather C Gibbs which appeared in CN114 of Crochet Now magazine.

There was also the re-release of festive favourite Eggnog the Elf, whose updated pattern is now available as a crochet kit. There was also the release of the FREE crochet pattern Figgy the Festive Gnome and my other favourite design from the end of the year, the Gnome Sweet Gnome advent calendar.

Coming up for 2025

What a fabulously crafty year it’s been! I managed to create a few person projects but I’ll share details of those later. I have also managed to collect more works in progress (WIPs)! I certainly need to do a bit of a WIP purge for 2025 (but I feel I say that every year – don’t we all?!).

This week I learned that Keep Calm and Crochet On U.K. has been recognized by FeedSpot as one of the Top 100 Crochet Blogs on the web, coming in at 26th on a list of fabulous creative blogs! TheΒ crochet blogs are selectedΒ from thousands of blogs on the web and ranked by relevancy, authority, social media followers and freshness – so that was really exciting! I’m so grateful for the support of readers and fellow crafters who make this journey so rewarding. Thank you for helping Keep Calm and Crochet On U.K. thrive!

So what else can you look forward to in 2025? Well I have a couple of personal crochet challenges that I’m going to start (more about those soon) and I can say that there are things in place for new releases in some of your favourite crochet magazines this year which I’m looking forward to sharing with you. I’ve got some new exciting blog hops that I’m going to be taking part in and of course some fun new collaborations – all in all it’s shaping up to be another exciting and creative year!

I’d love to here which was your favourite pattern of mine, or about what you’ve finished in 2025, or what you are looking forward to making in 2025 – drop me a comment below.

Until next time; keep calm and crochet on my friends xx

Looking back at 2023 | And coming up…

Hello and welcome to my post where I take a look back at myΒ crochetΒ adventures of 2023. I do find it so helpful to do a review of 2023. It always amazes me how fast I can forget what I’ve been up to as my brain quickly moves to what I’ve got to do next!

Collage of crochet designs from KCACOUK in 2023

But before we get into the review I just want to start this post with a heartfelt thank you as we step into a new year together!Β As a one woman team it makes such a difference having such fabulous customers and lovely folks cheering me on – so a big thank you! ❀️ Now without further ado here are some of my personal highlights and favourite projects of the year!

January / February 2023

The culmination of a lot of work finally came together in a brand new crochet along for 2023 The Enchanted Wood Crochet along. Inspired by the woodlands, in which I love to walk and spend my time, the crochet along started on the 20 January 2023 and ran for 8 weeks ending on Friday 10 March 2023. As always it was completely wonderful to see folks of the crochet community come together to work on a blanket – and the finished blankets I’ve seen were stunning!

The Enchanted Wood crochet blanket - free crochetalong available on the KCACOUK Blog.

Although I love doing a CAL it is a lot of work, and life has been quite busy recently so I’m having a little break for this year. However there’s no saying a CAL won’t materialise again in the future, and all previous free CALS though can be found under the CALS and MALS tab if you are looking for a project to do at your own pace.

At the start of the year I was delighted to share some designs in Crochet Now magazine. There was Lola the Lovebug and the Peanuts Baby Loveys, which were a special treat to design. I also re-released one of my favourite patterns of the past, the Chevron Spectrum Wrap.

Although one of my favourite designs in February was the Malmsmead Mitts that I created with some new John Arbon 4ply yarn – I was really pleased with how they turned out.

Malmsmead Crochet Mitts by Heather C Gibbs, available from KCACOUK Designs Etsy Shop.

March / April 2023

March / April was busy! There were three designs published in I Like Crochet Magazine; the Countryside Pillow, the Patchwork Puppy and the Bouquet Bobby Pins and Barrette set, and also the Clangers Soup Dragon in Crochet Now Magazine.

There was also the free Coronation British Bulldog for Woolbox and I released the free Dynami Cable earwarmer. In April I also released one of my textural favourites of the year, the Koito Crocodile Cowl made with some of the lovely yarn from The Yarn Whisperer.

Koito Crocodile Crochet Cowl by Heather C Gibbs, available from KCACOUK Designs Etsy Shop.

May / June 2023

In May and June I finally got round to releasing another new mini crochet kit, the Love Gnome, which I thoroughly enjoyed creating. But I was carried away with Coronation fever in May with the release of a favourite design; Colin the Coronation Chicken!

Colin the Crochet Coronation Chicken by Heather C Gibbs, available from KCACOUK Designs Etsy Shop.

July / August 2023

Another busy couple of months with lots of new designs! Alongside the Jardin de Fleur Blanket, for Crochet Now Magazine, I also created a Festive Ted and Magnus the Gnome for Your Crochet and Knitting Magazine. I was also delighted to create two new granny square designs for Simply Crochet magazine for Granny Square Day 2023.

But one of my favourites of this month was, without a doubt, the Festival Fade Shawl which was a special project created for lovely crochet friends at the Carry on Crafting Festival.

Crochet Festival Fade Shawl by Heather C Gibbs, available from KCACOUK Designs Etsy Shop.

I love working with Hook and Cwtch yarns, the colours are always an absolute delight! I’m working with some more of her lovely yarn on a design at the moment which I’ll be excited to share with you at some point in 2024.

September / October 2023

The end of the summer saw one of my self-picked designs of the year! Kitey (aka The Yarn Whisperer) and I collaborated on our summer make-along, the Graceful Gull Shawlette. It’s a pattern I LOVED designing and was proud of how it turned out – the curve of the ‘wings’ was something I was particularly pleased with.

Crochet Graceful Gull Shawlette by Heather C Gibbs, available from KCACOUK Designs Etsy Shop.

Of course it’s always a delight to create something with beautiful yarn and accessories! And I have further collabs to look forward to (hooray!) - Kitey and I already have some ideas lined up for summer and winter which are some of the things I’m looking forward to in 2024.

in October there was also the Halloween Snoopy I created for Crochet Now Magazine and three free Jungle Pal animals for Woolbox; Blue Rhino, Pink Elephant and Golden Monkey.

Crochet Cat Bells Cowl by Heather C Gibbs, available from KCACOUK Designs Etsy Shop.

September also saw another of my favourite designs of the year, the Cat Bells Cowl. I love, love, love how the textured turned out for this cowl! Made with beautiful semi solid hand-dyed yarn from Rosie’s Moments it was a delight to work on. In fact I have two more ‘kindred’ cowls inspired by this one to share in 2024.

In October I also re-released my Pumpkin Pal Bib and shared another favourite mini crochet kit, Hero Hamster in my Etsy store alongside working on Percival the Party Pig for Crochet Now‘s 100th edition of the magazine.

Crochet amigurumi Hero Hamster kit available from KCACOUKDesigns Etsy shop

November / December 2023

Which brings us quite quickly to the end of the year where I shared three new mini crochet kits, the Robin Christmas Tree Ornament, Christmas Pudding Tree Ornament and my favourite Mr. Mushroom Man, the latter of which sold out! He is all restocked for the re-opening of my Etsy shop this week.

Mr. Mushroom Man mini crochet kit by Heather C Gibbs, available from KCACOUK Designs Etsy Shop.

It’s been such a busy year that I didn’t actually manage to finish very many personal projects this year (well I can’t think of any off the top of my head). Though I have managed to collect quite a few more works in progress (WIPs)! I certainly need to do a bit of a WIP purge for 2024 to try and clear the decks a little before starting anything else that’s brand new (wish me luck with that!).

What a fabulously crafty year it’s been! I’ve loved being involved in all the designs I’ve worked on this year, it’s all been rather creative! And of course there’s more to look forward to in 2024 from me. There will definitely be more amigurumi, home decor items and accessories that I’ll be sharing with you throughout the year, I’ve got plenty to keep my hooks busy!

I’d love to here about what you’ve finished in 2024, or what you are looking forward to making in 2024 – drop me a comment below.

Until next time; keep calm and crochet on my friends xx

Looking back at 2022 | And coming up…

Welcome to the first KCACO.UK blog post for 2023! I’d like to wishing you all a very Happy New Year! I hope you had a restful and woolly festive break.

I umm’d and ahh’d about doing an end of year review but I decided that I actually forget so much that I’ve done that it can be rather nice to take a bit of time to look back at the year in this way.

Apparently I released 49 patterns in 2022; which seems a little bonkers when it’s added up like that. I’m so often going straight to the next project, after finishing the last, so I don’t realise just how much crochet I’ve managed to squeeze in! 49 patterns seemed a bit excessive to recap though so I thought I’d just share some of my personal highlights or favourites projects of the year!

January / February 2022

At the start of the year I was delighted to share some designs in Happily Hooked Magazine, I Like Crochet Magazine and Crochet Now. There was a moose, a hat, scarf, purse and three wraps in amongst the designs, but I have to say that one of my favourites was the Chevron Spectrum Wrap from Happily Hooked Issue 94 – and I’ve had such positive feedback about it that it seemed to be a favourite with you too.

Now that the pattern rights have come back to me for this one it’s definitely on the list as an early release for 2023 (so watch this space!)

March / April 2022

In March / April I re-released some patterns including two bunnies and a dragon, and I worked with Crochet Now Magazine again with the Flora Filet wrap design, and a bit of a highlight, an Official Clangers pattern for a baby mobile for Issue 79. There were also the three free patterns working in collaboration with Anchor Yarns to create some jewellery designs – they were fun. I also released my first mini crochet kit, for a hanging heart ornament, which I thoroughly enjoyed creating.

But I have to say that one of my favourite designs was another rainbow inspired design (because I do so love a rainbow!) again for Happily Hooked Magazine (Issue 96) and that was the Colour Wheel Cowl.

I actually really want to recreate this design in some hand-dyed mini’s that I’ve got – don’t you think that could be an great project?

May / June 2022

In May and June I had the pleasure of working with Happily Hooked Magazine on a wrap and a doll, Crochet Now Magazine on a wrap, a shawl and an amigurumi, Simply Crochet magazine on a cassette purse and Lets Get Crafting on a squirrel and mobile.

I was also delighted to be one of the guest designers for The Crochet Society subscription box 35. The Argon Triangular Scarf actually was my favourite makes of the year, I loved how it turned out – that texture still really makes me smile!

Β© Practical Publishing 2022

And I’m going to sneak in a couple of additional favourite designs, because the lovely Kitey (aka The Yarn Whisperer) and I collaborated on our summer make-along at this time too. The Dragonfly River Cowl is a pattern I LOVED designing – it’s always a delight to create something with beautiful yarn and accessories!

We already have some ideas lined up for summer (and winter) which are some of the things I’m looking forward to in 2023.

May was also the month that I released Flynn the Fox with Dear Ewe which launched when I exhibited at Wool@Jct13 Yarn Show. I love how sweet this little amigurumi fox turned out, he’s definitely on my list of favourite makes for the year.

I’m going to be back exhibiting with Wool@Jct13 again in May 2023 (it’s in Staffordshire if fancy coming along), with (fingers crossed) a brand new amigurumi kit design – something else I’m looking forward too.

July / August 2022

In July and August there were some more amigurumi’s with Crochet Now Magazine, including one of my favourite collections, for some official Care Bear Patterns (in Issue 84). As a child of the 80’s it was rather special to have the opportunity to work on those simply because they were CARE BEARS!

I was delighted to also be included in the Simply Crochet magazine Granny Square day festivities with two new granny square designs, I re-released a puppy for charity, and released a free bee keyring. I also created a blanket and a wrap for I Like Crochet Magazine, the latter of which, The Sandstone Shawl, was another of my favourite designs of the year.

Β© I Like Crochet – August 2022

I love, love, LOVE how it turned out and I’m still in love with all slubby textured yarns as a consequence I think! Maybe more of that sort of yarn this year.

September / October 2022

There were ponies and re-released life-sized pumpkins. and bird baubles, monsters, and free blocks like the Isaz Afghan Block I think I had a couple of favourites again during this period. I released another mini crochet kit, The Teeny Tiny Pumpkins, which I thoroughly enjoyed – there’s just something so satisfactory about making a load of pumpkins!

I really do enjoy creating these tiny crochet kits, so I’m certain they’ll be some more of these on the cards for 2023.

I also really loved making The Acorn Gnomes for Crochet Now magazine (Issue 86), these little characters really just came alive when I made them, I love walks in the woods, and loved imagining these little guys into being!

November / December 2022

The end of the year saw Pickles the Puppy for Crochet Now and The Winter Rambles scarf for Β Inside CrochetΒ (issue 152) and two new mini crochet kits, the Vintage Snowman and the Reindeer Tree Ornament, the latter of which sold out! I’ll be restocking that one soon now that I’ve re-opened the shops after Christmas this week.

And of course I can’t forget the winter make along for The Peppermint Pageant MAL with Kitey – but as that’s still on going (until 26 January) I won’t share all the details on that just yet. But needless to say the yarn was a delight to work with and the accessories by Mrs G Makes were perfection as always.

As well as that lot I also managed to some how squeeze in hooking up some patterns by some other designers including The Juniper Cowl by TL Yarn Crafts, The Samhain Beanie and the Tree Skirt by The Crochet Sanctuary ladies, a Wednesday doll by Nivia Souza for my niece (which she loved), some crocheted vegetables (Carrot and Artichoke), The Harford Mittens from a TOFT kit and the Winter Flora Cushion by Catherine Crochets – I’ll probably write up a blog post about some of these projects soon.

I’ve loved being involved in all the designs I’ve worked on this year, it’s all been rather creative! And of course there’s more to look forward to in 2023 from me, we’ve got the new Crochet Along for 2023, The Enchanted Wood, starting in a couple of weeks (squee!) and there’s some more amigurumi, home decor items and accessories that I’ll be sharing with you throughout the year, I’ve got plenty to keep my hooks busy!

I’d love to here about what you’ve finished in 2023, or what you are looking forward to making in 2023 – drop me a comment below.

Until next time; keep calm and crochet on my friends xx
