Are you feline crafty? If so, hold onto your crochet hooks because there’s a new collection, designed in collaboration with Woolbox, that’s the cat’s meow! Three purr-fect patterns for some crochet cats!

Whisker your way into the world of crochet with these adorable FREE projects that will have you purring with delight. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a curious beginner, these patterns are the cat’s pajamas for anyone comfortable with working in amigurumi style.

Choose from Red Tabby, Russian Blue and Siamese – you can make a whole litter and spread the love to friends and family.

For all of the cats I used Woolbox Imagine Classic DK (Double Knit / Light Worsted). If you aren’t familiar with this yarn it’s a smoothly spun 100% anti–pilling acrylic; anti-pilling just means that any project you make with this yarn should not ‘pill’ (go bobbly) over time.

Woolbox Imagine Classic DK is available in 24 different colours (and they are adding shades all the time), and I used several different colours for the cats with a 3.5mm (US size E/4) hook. Other than that you would need pairs of coloured 12mm safety eyes (blue, green and brown), some stitch markers, some toy filler, pins and a yarn needle to sew all the pieces together.

Woolbox | Free Golden Monkey Pattern

Hey folks, I’ve got another brand new FREE crochet pattern to share with you today that I’ve designed in collaboration with Woolbox. Fresh from swinging through the trees in the Congo, it’s a cute and cuddly crochet Golden Monkey!

If you’ve not heard about Woolbox before they are a new online yarn company with a wealth of knitting and crochet knowledge. With the help of different designers they are beginning to develop some FREE patterns of their own using their own brand of yarn – and I’m delighted to be helping them out with that.

For my Golden Monkey I used Woolbox Imagine Classic DK (Double Knit / Light Worsted). If you aren’t familiar with this yarn it’s a smoothly spun 100% anti–pilling acrylic; anti-pilling just means that any project you make with this yarn should not ‘pill’ (go bobbly) over time.

Woolbox | Free Blue Rhino Pattern

Anti-pilling, in a nutshell, just means that any project you make with this yarn, like an amigurumi should not go bobbly over time.

Woolbox | Free Coronation British Bulldog Pattern

I’m very excited to announce that I’ve got a brand new FREE crochet pattern available in collaboration with the lovely people from Woolbox. Introducing the Crocheted Coronation British Bulldog – The latest addition to the WoolBox family.

Woolbox is a new online yarn company with a wealth of knitting and crochet knowledge. They are beginning to develop some patterns of their own, with the help of different designers, using their own brand of yarn ‘Woolbox’ and I’m delighted to be helping them out with that.

The British Bulldog has often been used to embody British values and has been used in propaganda as a of Churchillian courage and perseverance. Though England doesn’t have a national dog per se, the British Bulldog is often associated with our country as the breed is thought to have originated in the British Isles.

To celebrate the Coronation of HRH The King’s Coronation I’ve worked with WoolBox to bring to you our Union Jack dressed British Bulldog.

For my little Bulldog I used Woolbox Imagine Classic DK with a 3.25mm hook. If you aren’t familiar with this yarn it is a 100% acrylic yarn that is super soft and has been developed with anti-pilling technology.

In a nutshell this just means that any project you make with this yarn, whether it’s a garment or a toy, should avoid going bobbly or thinner over time.

Crochet Pattern | Coronation Chicken Amigurumi

Hi, how are you doing today? I’ve got something a little fun and tongue in cheek to share with you. I really wanted to come up with a commemorative project for the forthcoming King’s Coronation – and well all I could think of was coronation chicken…so that’s what I’ve made!

Meet Colin the Coronation Chicken, a eggs-traordinarily hen-some fellow who would make a great commemorative souvenir or gift for a royalty lover.

He’s im-peck-ably dressed for the occasion in a hen-semble of sash, crown and ermine trimmed cloak – aren’t my chicken puns just heir-larious!

I made Colin with a 3mm hook and some Ricorumi DK from my stash. I love Ricorumi DK especially for amigurumi as it comes in loads of different colours.

Made of 100% cotton this smooth-finished yarn comes in cute 25g [57.5 meters] balls just perfect for projects where you just want to use a small amount of a particular colour.

Colin’s crown, sceptre and orb are made from Rico Ricorumi Lamé DK – Gold (002) which is super sparkly yarn perfectly suited to royal accessories. It comes in 10g [50m] and is made from 62% polyester and 38% nylon.

The only other things you need to make Colin are 2 x 6mm black safety eyes, stitch markers, some black embroidery thread,a tapestry needle and some toy stuffing. His finished size is 16cm / 6.3 inches high from bottom to top of his crown.

The majority of this pattern is worked in amigurumi style, using continuous rounds, and then the parts are sewn together using the mattress stitch.

Of course if you didn’t want to deck him out in his finery then Colin makes a very cute rooster which could look great as part of your Spring or farmhouse style decor.

The 6 page PDF pattern is available in either UK or US terms and includes explanations of all stitches and abbreviations. I would suggest it is suitable for an intermediate crocheter – though there is nothing to stop an adventurous beginner having a go!

LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine | Red Squirrel and Baby Mobile

Are you looking for some new summer favourites? Well Let’s Get Crafting Knitting and Crochet magazine have several fun options that you might want to look into – including a couple of new patterns from me; and I’m delighted to say that my Red Squirrel is issue 141’s cover star!

My little red squirrel, with his stripy hat and cute little bowler hat were very fun to make. I used every colour in the yarn kit (which comes with the magazine) and I especially enjoyed using the variegated yarn to make the tail – colourwork has never been easier!

Speaking of nurseries, my second pattern in issue 141 is a bead and ball mobile. I have a bit of a thing about wood, I love it! So for this project I mixed crochet with some wooden beads and a wooden hoop, with some crochet balls, in several different sizes, hanging off with embroidery thread.

The mobile is very easy to make and would make a great beginner project, in fact the whole process of making up the mobile was very enjoyable. And if you don’t have little ones to make it for how about making it for your craft room or conservatory!

LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine | Patch the Elf and Autumn Pumpkin

Did you know that there are now only 74 days until Christmas!? It’s coming up fast, which is why it’s handy that the latest issue of Let’s Get Crafting Knitting and Crochet magazine has a couple of festive themed patterns in to help you get ready, but there’s also a dash of Autumnal patterns if you aren’t ready for Christmas yet!

I’m delighted to say that you can see one of my designs on the front cover; Patches the Elf is this month’s cover star! With Christmas coming fast it’s the ideal time to start some craftmas projects – so why not start with a fun little elf.

He was a really fun doll to make and if you are new to crocheting amigurumi he offers a great chance to try different stitches like loops and picots.

Patches would make a great decoration or as a gift to help spread some holiday cheer – you can have your ‘elf a merry little Christmas for sure!

And if you aren’t ready for full on festive yet then how about something a little more seasonal – a cute little pumpkin!

My daughter saw the recent issue and has asked me to make her one of these cute little pumpkin pals – they are really quick to make up so you could easily finishing one in an evening. You just need to take your time dividing up the segments and make sure the yarn is really secure.

The pattern also comes with three autumn leaves for you to make, so you can create your own Autumnal display.

Deramores | Cuddle Bunny

Do you need some-bunny to love? Then I might just have the perfect new pattern for you! Allow me to introduce the new Cuddle Bunny pattern ~~that’s available now in my Deramores Designer Shop.~~

Everyone needs a friend who is all ears and I think you’ll find that this little guy is simply ear-resistible for bunny or animals lovers.

I used Deramores Studio DK in Frost and Rose for my bunny and a 3.25mm hook (US size D/3). I love the softness of Deramores Studio DK, it’s perfect for toys, especially as it’s anti-piling, and if you’ve followed me for awhile you’ll know I really enjoy working with it.

~~You can pick up the bunny as either a single pattern, for £2 / $2.79, or as a kit with everything you need (pattern, yarn, safety eyes and stuffing).~~

It’s getting near to Easter, so you might be thinking it’s bunny time – though I think this little fellow would be a perfect little keepsake for a child’s birthday or christening too.
