Care Bears were such a huge part of my childhood, and they still hold a really special place in my heart. I can remember hours spent watching their movies, snuggling my toys, and being completely captivated by their colourful world in my Panini sticker. album Out of them all, Grumpy Bear has always been my favourite – I’ve got such a soft spot for him. There’s just something so endearing about his grumbles and frowns, because underneath it all, he’s loyal, caring, and full of heart.

Meet the full Carebear Collection

Crochet your own wonderful Care Bear to keep and treasure forever! Whether making for yourself or a loved one, these beautiful, officially licensed kits have everything you need to create your own bear friends.

There are six exclusive kits;

  • Funshine Bear: Funshine Bear is all about fun, laughter, and living life with a sunny attitude. Whether it’s playing games, going on adventures, or just making someone smile, he brings energy and joy wherever he goes. His smiling sun belly badge shines as brightly as his cheerful personality.
  • Friend Bear: Friend Bear is the embodiment of kindness and connection. She’s always ready to lend a helping hand, share a smile, or bring new friends together. With her twin smiling flowers belly badge, she reminds everyone that friendship makes everything better.
  • Wish Bear: Wish Bear believes in the power of dreams and the magic of wishing big. She’s always encouraging others to follow their hearts and never give up on what they hope for. With her shooting star belly badge, she brings a little stardust and a lot of hope to every adventure.
  • Cheer Bear: Cheer Bear is an eternal optimist. She’s always looking on the bright side, lifting spirits, and helping others find happiness even when things seem gloomy. If someone’s sad, grumpy, or feeling left out, Cheer Bear is the one who’ll bring a smile to their face.
  • Good Luck Bear: Good Luck Bear is the bearer of good fortune and positive vibes. He’s always ready to share a little luck with his friends, whether it’s finding a lucky penny or just being in the right place at the right time. With his four-leaf clover belly badge and cheerful grin, he brings confidence, hope, and a bit of magic wherever he goes.
  • Grumpy Bear: Grumpy Bear might seem gloomy on the outside, but he has a heart of gold underneath his blue fur. For each of the bears I used Crochet Society’s Cuddly Craft DK which I’ve used a few times now for different projects. If you are not familiar with it, it’s a 100% polyester chenille yarn (100g / 220m) and it’s really nice to work with, unlike some other chenille yarns, you can still make out your stitches making it one of the easier chenille’s to crochet with – and as a bonus it’s lovely and soft.

Why You’ll Love It

These kits are perfect for crafters of all levels, from beginners looking for a fun project to seasoned crocheters wanting to add a touch of nostalgia to their creations. The characters are not only fun to make but could also make charming gifts for someone special.

And if that’s not enough Carebears for you Crochet Society have also put together a storage pouch and stitch marker bundle which you might want to check out.

Crochet Club Magazine Crochet-Along – Part 2

Are you ready to head to the beach with the second project of the Make it Today: Crochet Club magazine 3-part crochet-along? For the latest issue of the magazine I’ve designed a loveable and vibrant trio of sea-creatures including a sweet jellyfish and a couple of types of crab.

© Make It Today: Crochet Club – Issue 45

Following on from the fun crocheted beach hut we made for Part 1 of the crochet along may I introduce to you my fun take on a Lion’s Mane Jellyfish, an Edible Crab and a Hermit Crab – all species that you’d find along our UK shoreline.

I’m completely fascinated with sea creatures, well any animals really, and love nothing more than winding down by watching a natural history documentary (usually featuring David Attenborough) on TV with a bit of crochet at the end of the day.

The sea is such an interesting and varied place and the natural world is just a constant source of inspiration. I had fun making these projects, and I think they would work as a fun keyring for your keys if you were to add a ring and clip to the top of them.

SAVE THE SEA CREATURE TRIO PATTERNS ON RAVELRY HERE

Part 3 of the beachy crochet along will be appearing in Issue 46 of Crochet Club magazine on Thursday July 25th – so save the date in your calendar!

If you missed the first part of the crochet-along, don’t worry, it’s available for free at topcrochetpatterns.com.

Crochet Club Magazine Crochet-Along – Part 1

I’m absolutely delighted to have been asked by the folks at Make It Today  to do my very first magazine crochet-along for the Crochet Club magazine.

Part 1 of the beachy-themed project is out now in Issue 44 and it’s just perfect for this time of year! It’s a little amigurumi beach hut!

© Make It Today – Crochet Club Issue 44

The theme of the whole crochet-along is ‘beach’ and with each magazine release (Issues 44 to 46) we will be making several amigurumi patterns together that make a fun summer scene!

The patterns from the crochet-along would make a great summer play set for the kids or I also think, this particular project, would make a great bit of decor for an actual beach hut. Or if you were to add some beans to the bottom you could make it into a doorstop for a nautical themed room.

And there might just be a sneaky peep at what part 2 of the CAL is going to be below…

Part 2 of the beachy crochet along will be appearing in Issue 45 of Crochet Club magazine on Thursday June 20th – so save the date in your calendar!

This issue is particularly bright and appealing and the patterns I also love in this issue are the Rainbow the Giraffe by Sarah Louise Reed and the Sewlicious Doughnuts by Hannah Cooper.

I’m obviously a big fan of crochet toys and amigurumi and I have a cute little amigurumi mouse called Melissa in this addition.  The magazine comes with six sweetie yarns this month, including the special pom pom yarn, and little Mel uses some of them all.

LGC107-071-WEB_medium2

I also designed three patchwork pockets for this latest issue which were lots of fun to make. I love the idea of adding a pocket to refashion an outfit or adding a pocket to your clothing to just show off your passion for crochet.

LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine | Mrs Christmas and the Little Elves

Issue 106 of LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine is out in shops now and it’s a thoroughly festive affair! I have two Christmas designs in this months issue and I was delighted that my Mrs Christmas is this months cover star! You can also see Figgy and Pudding, my other designs, on the cover on the left hand-side.

latest-issue

I’m a big Christmas fan! It’s definitely my favourite holiday, so when I was asked to design Mrs Christmas I quickly formed an image in my head of how I wanted her to look.  Because of this she came together quite quickly and the fluffy yarn, that comes with the kit, was just perfect for a bit of a blue rinse hair style under a traditional mop cap!

LGC106-140_medium2

I was also asked to design some elves for this months edition – now this was a little bit more tricky because over the years I’ve designed 3 boy elves and 2 girl elves already! So with numbers 6 and 7 I was very conscious that I wanted not to even subconsciously make them look like the other designs.  But that’s what I love about making amigurumi there’s always a new way you can create little characters to make them unique – and I was really pleased with how Figgy and Pudding turned out in the end.

LGC106-103_medium2

I love the styling for this months magazine and if it’s seasonal amigurumi you are looking for then this edition is just full of Christmas toys!

This issue comes with a six wonderland yarns which are lovely pastel Christmas colours;

  • 3mm hook & 3mm knitting needles
  • 65 exclusive patterns
  • Plus… your 68 page magazine

LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine is available in major supermarkets and newsagents across the UK.  If you hook up either Mrs Christmas or the Little Elves please share your photos with me on social media (facebooktwitter or instagram) – I love to see what you make! So why not hop to it and get your copy of the magazine now!

Until next time folks! Happy hooking, keep calm and crochet on my friends xx

LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine | Novelty Garland & Free Robin Pattern

Issue 104 of LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine is out in shops now and I’ve got two exclusive patterns in this issue which is a crafting for Christmas special – I know it’s only September but we crafters gotta start early am I right?!latest-issueWhen the red, red robin, comes bob, bob, bobbing along….along!!! Today’s earworm is bought to you courtesy of me (sorry!). Robins are such a familiar site on Christmas cards aren’t they. So often pictured in the snow it’s because Britain’s favourite hardy little bird doesn’t migrate from the UK in the Winter it sticks around like we do (probably also muttering to itself about the weather).

Now you can make your own little crochet versions, Robert and Richard, to perch on your mantel during the festive season.

LGC_105-033-WEB_medium2

Made using three simple stitches, these little feathered friends are the perfect project for a crochet newbie – and right now these little birds are available for FREE from topcrochetpatterns.com

Sometimes I get asked to do things that seem rather bizarre – like my second make for this months edition. The brief was for a novelty brussel sprout garland with some party hats, but when I got to thinking about it, you don’t actually get more Christmassy than that do you!  Even if you hate the vegetable (and who is it that really likes them?) this garland is so fun (and quick) to make – though you might feel as if someone is watching you whilst you are making it!

LGC_104-017-WEB_medium

The magazine comes with a six blitzen yarns which are lovely and bright and the yellow has sparkly gold running through it too. You also get;

  • 3.5mm hook & 3.5mm knitting needles
  • 50 exclusive patterns
  • Plus… your 68 page magazine

LGC Knitting & Crochet Magazine is available in major supermarkets and newsagents across the UK.  If you hook up either Richard and Robert Robin or make the fun Novelty Garland please share your photos with me on social media (facebooktwitter or instagram) – I love to see what you make!
