🎄New Festive Crochet Kits Are Here | Teddy Stocking, Angel and Santa

December is moving far too fast for my liking and I just haven’t had a chance to tell you about the new crochet kits I have in my Etsy shop! If you loved our previous seasonal ornament crochet kits (like the robin, Christmas pudding, reindeer, Christmas tree and gingerbread man ), this year I’m so excited to introduce you to three brand-new kits that will spread a little handmade magic wherever they hang. Two of them are brand new, fresh off the hook and never seen before, and one is a long-time show and pop-up shop favourite that’s finally landing in the online store.

Pin It for Later:

Three crocheted Christmas ornaments displayed: a Santa Claus, a teddy bear in a stocking, and an angel, all designed for holiday decorations.

🐻 Teddy Stocking – A Mini Surprise Inside

Meet the cutest stocking on the shelf: a soft, crocheted mini stocking complete with a removable teddy – perfect if you want to decorate the tree and maybe let someone adopt the teddy for their shelf or desk!

What makes this kit extra special:

  • A fully crochetable mini stocking, sized to hang neatly on your tree or fireplace.
  • A tiny, removable teddy that sits snugly inside – stitched separately so you can take it out and carry it around or gift it alone.
  • A mini present charm included in the kit, so you can attach a little “gift” into the stocking for a sparkle of holiday fun.

Whether you hang the stocking in December and then pass the teddy on as a sweet handmade gift, or keep both on display, this kit offers twice the charm for one joyful project 🎁

A crocheted mini stocking in red and white next to a removable teddy bear, placed on a wooden slice backdrop surrounded by pine branches.

👼 Glitter-Halo Angel

Next up: a delicately crocheted angel, radiant with holiday cheer and ready to bring some festive sparkle to your tree (or home décor).

What’s in the kit:

  • Yarn for the angel’s body and gown in classic soft tones — plus special yarn with a subtle metallic/glittery thread for her halo.
  • A mini bell charm — so the angel can hold her little bell in her hands.

This angel adds an ethereal, twinkly touch to any holiday setup – especially lovely if you’re going for that cosy, handmade Christmas aesthetic.

🎅 Jolly St. Nick

Last but certainly not least: the kit you might recognise from fairs and shows, now finally online; our heritage-looking Santa – with a little extra charm!

With this kit you get:

  • A traditional, slightly vintage looking Father Christmas with carefully stitched facial details for a warm, nostalgic vibe.
  • A cute holly charm to attach to his hat – the finishing festive touch that brings him to life.

If you love heritage Christmas décor, this Santa will make a handsome addition, whether hung on a door, tree, or used as part of a larger handmade display.

All the kits come with the yarn and materials needed including the twine for hanging – no need to hunt for anything. The kits also come packaged in a reusable clear bauble, ideal for gifting now, and once your crochet is proudly hanging on the tree, you can refill the bauble with chocolates, sweets, or a mini surprise to enjoy year after year.

The patterns are all written in UK terms, but shipping is available to anywhere. If you are not sure about UK terms then you might find my blog post British vs. American Crochet Terms: What’s the Difference? helpful.

Last domestic posting date for any of my crochet kits is this Friday 12 December for USA and Wednesday 17 December for the UK. Please shop early to avoid disappointment! I tend to send out orders as they arrive in as soon as possible, but I cannot guarantee how the post office delivery side will be at this time of year!

If you make up any of the crochet kits I hope you’ll share your WIP and finished project photos with me on social media (facebooktwitter or instagram) or as a project on Ravelry – I love to see what you make! And finally you may wish to sign up to blog (below) and / or my mailing list to get a reminder when new blog posts, discounts or new pattern releases are available.

Until next time folks! Happy hooking and keep calm and crochet on my friends xx

NEW Crochet Kit | Pretty Petal Pincushion

As I sit writing this post there is a gentle breeze carrying the scent of freshly cut grass and the sun is finally casting it’s warm glow upon the earth! Spring has (finally) sprung and everywhere you look, hints of new life are emerging – buds are unfurling on branches, green shoots are peeking through the soil, and there is a promise of blossoms waiting to burst forth in a riot of colour. And what better way to celebrate than with a crochet project that captures the joy of warmer weather! Allow me to introduce the Pretty Petal Pincushion Crochet Kit – a delightful embodiment of sunshine and usefulness!

Much like my other crochet kits this one was also released at the latest Crochet Sanctuary weekend where I was kindly allowed to bring a pop up shop,  to share with the other guests, a range of my KCACOUKYarnybobs and Dear Ewe products.

I’d actually had the idea for this pincushion awhile ago; pin cushions are such a invaluable tool, their primary function is to provide a convenient and safe place to store sewing needles and pins, and somewhere to keep them organised and easily accessible during projects. And I’m all for a bit of making it easier for me to find things when I need them!

Crocheted sunflower pincushion on a log slice, on a white wooden table. You can also see in the background the crochet kit for this sunflower pincushion.

Also by keeping needles and pins securely in place, pincushions can help prevent accidents such as pinpricks and misplaced needles, ensuring a smoother (and safer) crochet experience.

I wanted my pincushion to be not only practical but also aesthetically pleasing. I’ve always loved sunflowers, they even featured in my room decor; stencilling some as a border onto my bedroom walls in my teens. They are such cheerful flowers and they can effortlessly brighten up any space – perfect inspiration I thought for a pretty pincushion.

❤️ Add the Pretty Petal Pincushion Crochet Kit to your favourites on Ravelry ❤️

2 balls of 10g Lemon (Shade 280) – YARN C
1 ball of 10g Forest Green (Shade 412) – YARN D
Shaped log slice stand
10g of toy stuffing

There’s an optional extra of purchasing a premium bamboo 3mm or aluminium hook (US approx. size D/3) if you don’t have one of those to hand, and also a pack of 10 Clover marking pins – which I think are great for using with amigurumi or holding crochet pieces together.

The pattern is written in UK terms, but shipping is available to anywhere. If you are not sure about UK terms then you might find my blog post British vs. American Crochet Terms: What’s the Difference? helpful.

Simply Crochet | Hook to Hook Challenge

If you are a regular reader of Simply Crochet magazine then you may be familiar with their ‘Hook to Hook Challenges’ where two designers compete to come up with a unique pattern, to a given brief, using the same yarn.  I was delighted to be asked to be one of the challengers again…

A wall pocket organiser hangs on a white brick wall. The pockets are made up to look like cute teddy bear faces. Inside the pockets there are some little toys.
© Our Media: Simply Crochet Issue 148

You may remember that I took part in one of these hook to hook challenges before (my first challenge was back in 2019 for Issue 81). The same rules applied, I didn’t know who I would be up against, just that we would both using the same yarn with the brief of creating a ‘pocket organiser’.

I was given five balls of Drops Muskat which is a mercerized DK (light worsted) 100% cotton that comes in 50g balls (100m / 109yds).  The colours I received were Desert Rose (06), Light Mint (20), Light Orange (51), Pink Sand (86) and Pomegranate (87).

❤️ Save the Bear Pocket Organiser on Ravelry ❤️

I think these challenges are particularly fun to see how different people’s minds work, I came up with the Bear-longs Pocket organiser. A sweet decorative wall hanging storage bag with three practical pockets perfect for sorting and organising small items.

The back of the hanger is worked in one panel in rows to create a striped background. Then some front pieces with cute ears were created and attached to the back panel to create pockets. The completed organiser was then attached to a length of dowel rod for hanging purposes.

It was really fun to see my competitor’s take on the challenge, I love Millie Masterson’s hanging basket version; perfect for keeping little treasures safe too!

One of the fun bits of the Hook to Hook Challenge is that YOU can vote for your favourite of the two designs on the Simply Crochet Instagram page. Just LIKE and COMMENT on your favourite (pick me 😉) to be in with a chance of winning a FREE digital edition of Simply Crochet.

A winner will be announced on 30 April at 1pm (GMT) on the Simply Crochet Instagram page, the competition is open to UK entrants only and T&C’s will apply.

Simply Crochet Magazine 145 | Cubist Wall Hanging

Hey lovelies, I’ve got a new design to share with you today that you can find inside the latest issue of Simply Crochet magazine. Splash your walls with a new sense of style with the ‘About Face’ Cubist Wall Hanging.

Close up of a crochet abstract face wall hanging against a white brick wall.
Our Media 2024 – Simply Crochet 145

Inspired by the Cubist movement, characterised by the breaking down of forms into geometric shapes, this modern abstract wall art will definitely provide an interesting talking point in your home.

I created the wall hanging from West Yorkshire Spinners Colour Lab DK (light worsted), It’s made from 100% British wool and comes in a range of bright solids and self-striping shades.

A desk top view of a basket of West Yorkshire Spinners colour lab yarn, a hand holds a cream coloured ball towards the camera.

I used 1 ball each of the following colours with a 3.5mm hook (US E/4);

  • Natural Cream (0010)
  • Citrus Yellow (0229)
  • Crimson Red (0556)
  • Zesty Orange (0476)
  • Electric Blue (0364)
  • Bottle Green (0363)
  • Phantom Black (0099)

However the colours are easily adaptable so the wall hanging could be made to suit every taste of décor, and it could also be a great stash buster. If you are really a bit unsure about selecting colour combinations for your wall hanging then I can certainly recommend the Design Seeds website for inspiration for beautiful colour palettes.

The only other thing you will need for this project are some a yarn needle, and two 30cm wooden dowel or sticks, and maybe a a project bag to store everything in. It’s the perfect way to add your own striking creative masterpiece to your bare walls – or wherever you want to add a pop of colour!

A striking cubist wall decoration, by Heather C Gibbs, available in issue 145 of Simply Crochet magazine.
Our Media 2024 – Simply Crochet 145

I’d suggest it’s a relatively quick and easy project – making it a great project for beginner crocheters. I’ve been thinking I should add a post on the blog on how to do surface crochet (which is how I did the ‘face’ on the wall hanging), but there is a note about the technique included in the magazine if you’ve not tried that method before.

With over 20 patterns in each issue, there’s plenty to inspire you in Simply Crochet. Everything from fun fashion ideas, garments, designs for the home to baby projects, cute amigurumi makes and gifts for all occasions. Simply Crochet magazine, Issue 145, is available to buy from most supermarkets, It is also available to order online or download as a digital issue.

NEW Mini Crochet Kit | Mr. Mushroom Man

I’ve got a brand new mini kit for you today – and he’s quite a fun-gi! Allow me to introduce Mr. Mushroom Man.

PIN FOR LATER:

Pinterest collage of the Mushroom Man Crochet kit available from KCACOUKDesigns Etsy store

Back in August I got to see my first ever Fly Agaric mushroom in the wild, it was a very exciting find! Arguably it’s one of the most iconic toadstool species, with its white spotted red cap, but I’d never seen one in real life despite all my many walks in woodland.

Close up of a small fly agaric mushroom poking up through the leaf litter in a woodland setting

It inspired me to create a little mushroom character – and weirdly I think there has been something in the air since then, as there seems to have been so many mushroom inspired crochet designs recently, by lots of different crochet designers.

A small crochet mushroom against a tree next to a collection of real life mushrooms.

Much like the previous released mini crochet kits (see all the mini crochet kits here along with a big kit) this one was released at the October Crochet Sanctuary. I attended as a guest but was kindly allowed to bring a pop up shop to share with the other guests with a range of my KCACOUKYarnybobs and Dear Ewe products.

It’s becoming a little bit of a tradition to create a new kit for the Crochet Sanctuary pop up’s I attend and I have to say I really enjoy the creativity of coming up with something new. And I’m excited to say I have some new Christmas themed mini crochet kit baubles coming soon – so watch this space.

So show a little love with the crochet Mushroom Man! This adorable little fellow, with his tiny hand held mushrooms, would make a cute addition to your home or you could make as a gift to someone special.

This slightly larger kit comes with 130g of Scheepjes Catona, 2 x 6mm black safety eyes, a small amount of black embroidery thread, a bag of craft moss, 20g bag of stuffing and a log slice for your mushroom man to sit on. The only thing that it doesn’t come with the kit is a glue gun, which is optional for you to use to stick everything into place.

I Like Crochet Magazine | Delani Diamond C2C Scarf

Hi there! How are you all doing? It’s been a couple of weeks since my last post; life and stuff has just been so busy that there doesn’t seem to have been much time for anything else! However, I am still beavering away on various projects behind the scenes and one of them I can finally share with you. Allow me to introduce the Delani Diamond C2C scarf which I created for the August 2023 edition of  I Like Crochet magazine.

A young woman looks straight at the camera, she is wearing the colourful Delani Diamond C2C crochet scarf.
© I Like Crochet – August 2023

Although summer is in full swing before we know it we’ll be swapping iced tea for hot cider and our t-shirts and shorts for something warmer – and as crafters it’s always good to get a head start on a project!

The Delani Diamond C2C scarf is a crochet design that combines an eye-catching chequered pattern created with the engaging corner-to-corner (C2C) method. I really enjoyed making this project and I love how it turned out; those big blocky diamonds were just the look I was aiming to create.

The blue, cream, burgandy and rust Delani Diamond Crochet C2C scarf is shown on a white mannikin against a backdrop of ivy.

For my scarf I used the gorgeously soft and squishy Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Worsted which is a 100% Peruvian Highland wool. The strong fiber has an excellent balance of structure, loft, and drape that serves a wide variety of uses and works very well for a scarf.  It also has excellent stitch definition which you can see with the gentle texture you get with C2C designs.

I’ve used the Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Bulky before, and really liked it, and I can say the same for the worsted (Aran weight) yarn. It’s really lovely to work with, really nice and soft and with a plied twist so it’s not splitty. I used a 5mm hook (US size H/8) which is in the range of the hook suggested (between 4mm5.5mm / US size G/6 – I/9) for the yarn.

Close up of a basket of Knitpicks Wool of the Andes yarn in worsted weight. The colours are cream, burgandy, blue and rust.

There are so many colours to choose from in this range but I couldn’t resist the ones I chose as they all had ‘Heather’ in the name of them – so literally made for me! I used Mink Heather the lovely creamy beige , Delft Heather a gorgeous royal blue, Persimmon Heather the fabulously rich rust colour and Rooibos Heather the beautiful rich maroon colour to make up my ‘diamonds’.

If you haven’t heard of  I Like Crochet magazine before it’s a US bi-monthly digital magazine which is published by the creators of AllFreeCrochet.com. With it being a US publication patterns are written using US crochet terminology – if you are not sure how that differs you may find my post British vs. American Crochet Terms: What’s the difference? of use.

If you hook up the Delani Diamond C2C scarf I hope you’ll share your photos with me on social media (facebooktwitter or instagram) or as a project on Ravelry – I love to see what you make! And finally you may wish to make sure you are signed up to blog (below) and / or my mailing list to get a reminder when new blog posts, discounts or new pattern releases are available.

Until next time folks! Happy hooking and keep calm and crochet on my friends xx

NEW Mini Crochet Kit | Love Gnome

I have to say that this year feels like it’s moving very fast – I can’t believe we are nearly in May and I’ve not had chance to share a crochet new kit I’ve just added to my Etsy shop! My best laid plans of sharing it in February didn’t happen, but that’s okay, you just have to do what you can do don’t you!

But now allow me to introduce my newest mini crochet kit for the Love Gnome!

Image of a amigurumi gnome holding a little heart on a stick, next to the gnome is a heart shaped bauble filled with red and pink yarn.

Much like the mini crochet kits I released last year (see all the mini crochet kits here along with a big kit) this one was released at the February Crochet Sanctuary where I was kindly allowed to bring a pop up shop to share with the other guests a range of my KCACOUKYarnybobs and Dear Ewe products.

It’s becoming a little bit of a tradition to create a new kit for these pop up’s and I have to say I really enjoy the process of coming up with something new – in fact a brand new kit, launching at the April Crochet Sanctuary will be coming soon!

A crochet gnome holding a little heart on a stick, next to the gnome is a heart small basket filled with red and pink Scheepjes Catona yarn.

So show a little love with the crochet Love Gnome! This adorable little gonk, with his hat pulled over his nose, would make a cute addition to your home or you could make as a gift to someone special.

❤️ Add the Love Gnome Crochet Kit to your favourites on Ravelry ❤️

Each kit contains 30g of Scheepjes Catona, the 16mm wooden bead, an eco cocktail stick, a small amount of white acrylic yarn for his beard packed in a reusable heart shaped bauble. The kit also comes with 10g bag of stuffing in small reusable organza bag (separately from the heart as it wouldn’t all fit in) so you have everything you need to your little Love Gnome.

A hand holds a heart shaped bauble filled with red and pink yarn.

There’s also the optional tool extra, via my Etsy shop, of including up a premium bamboo 3mm hook (US approx. size D/3) if you don’t have one of those to hand.

The pattern is written in UK terms, but shipping is available to anywhere. If you are not sure about UK terms then you might find my blog post British vs. American Crochet Terms: What’s the Difference? helpful.

These bauble crochet kits have always proved popular at the crochet sanctuary and I’ve seen lots of lovely examples now of projects that have been made from my mini kits.

If you have been working on a pattern from one of my crochet kits I hope you’ll share your WIP and finished project photos with me on social media (facebooktwitter or instagram), or as a project on Ravelry – I love to see what you make! And finally you may wish to sign up to blog (below) and / or my mailing list to get a reminder when new blog posts, discounts or new pattern releases are available.

Until next time folks! Happy hooking and keep calm and crochet on my friends xx
