Bookish Stitches 2026: February’s Book Blanket Progress

Hey lovelies, how are you? Coping with the dreary weather (or is that just me here in the UK?). January somehow felt like the longest month and like it disappeared in a blink – seriously, how are we already in February? But with all the rainy and freezing weather I’ve been looking forward to getting cosy with lots of books as I continue along with my 2026 Crochet Book Blanket project.

Reminder: The Vision for the Book Afghan

To maintain cohesion, I’ve used the same block pattern for the entire afghan (grab the free pattern here), working with yarn from my stash and selecting 4 colours that reflect and are closest to (as I’m not buying new yarn!) the book’s cover design.

February 2026 Reads and Squares

Book 7: The Many Futures of Maddy Hart by Laura Pearson

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 stars (out of 5)

Synopsis: Synopsis:
The Many Futures of Maddy Hart by Laura Pearson follows Maddy Hart, a woman who is unexpectedly shown glimpses of possible futures. As she navigates love, choices, and consequences, she must decide whether knowing what might happen is a gift or a burden.

Review:
I really enjoyed this book – such an interesting premise paired with great characters. However, the ending felt abrupt, which left me a little disappointed. I’ve loved everything Laura Pearson has written so far, though, so I’ll happily continue reading the rest of her work

Book 8: Percy Jackson and The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and The Olympians #5) by Rick Riordan

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 stars (out of 5)

Synopsis:
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan is the thrilling conclusion to Percy Jackson’s adventures. As the final battle with the Titans looms, Percy and his friends must defend Olympus itself, face impossible odds, and confront their destinies in a story full of heroism, twists, and mythological wonder.

Review:
I really enjoyed this and thought it was the perfect finale to the Percy Jackson series. It throws you straight into the action from the start and was a really fun, fast-paced read.

Book 9: Saving Noah by Lucinda Berry NEW AUTHOR TO ME

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 stars (out of 5)

Trigger Warnings:
The book contains themes of s*xual abuse, suicide, and emotional distress that some readers may find upsetting.

Synopsis:
Saving Noah by Lucinda Berry follows a gripping story centered on Noah, whose life becomes entwined with secrets, challenges, and moral dilemmas. As the narrative unfolds, the book explores difficult choices, family dynamics, and the consequences of actions, building to an unexpected and powerful climax.

Review:
This was a new author to me, and it was an intense read. A very thought-provoking exploration of complex themes, it’s well written with a powerful storyline that kept me engaged throughout. I did not see the surprise twist at the end coming, which made the ending all the more impactful.

Book 10: Lullaby by Leïla Slimani NEW AUTHOR TO ME

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ 3.5 stars (out of 5)

Trigger Warnings:
Contains graphic violence, child harm, psychological abuse, and disturbing themes that may be upsetting to some readers.

Synopsis:
Lullaby by Leïla Slimani is a psychological thriller that explores the dark complexities of domestic life. The story follows a seemingly idyllic family whose lives spiral into chaos after a shocking event, revealing hidden tensions, obsessions, and moral ambiguities.

Review:
A compelling read but deeply unsettling. The book opens with a horrific act that immediately pulls you in, keeping the tension high throughout. However, the ending felt a bit too abrupt to fully satisfy.

Book 11: The Intruder by Freida McFadden

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 3.75 stars (out of 5)

Synopsis:
The Intruder by Freida McFadden follows a suspenseful story told across dual timelines, centering on secrets, unexpected visitors, and the consequences of past actions. The narrative weaves together past and present to gradually reveal the truth behind the intruder’s motives.

Review:
A fast-paced Freida McFadden read that I really enjoyed. The dual timelines kept things interesting, and the twists were fun, even if some were a bit predictable. Not edge-of-your-seat suspense, but definitely an enjoyable and engaging read.

Book 12: Beautiful Ugly by Alice Feeny

Synopsis: Beautiful Ugly by Alice Feeny follows a man whose seemingly perfect life begins to unravel after a shocking event. Set against the atmospheric backdrop of a remote island, the story explores isolation, secrets, and the tensions that simmer beneath the surface. As relationships are tested and hidden truths emerge, the novel delves into themes of identity, deception, and the fine line between appearances and reality.

Review: I really enjoyed this one. The remote island setting created a wonderfully tense, atmospheric backdrop throughout. The story kept me engaged, and I loved the twist at the end, it was cleverly done. Overall, a compelling read.

Book 13: November 9 by Colleen Hoover

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ 3.75 stars (out of 5)

Synopsis: November 9 by Colleen Hoover follows Fallon and Ben, who meet by chance the day before Fallon moves across the country. They agree to reunite on the same date each year, forming a unique relationship built on brief encounters, evolving emotions, and untold truths. Book 14: Bunny by Mona Awad

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ 3.5 stars (out of 5)

Synopsis: Bunny by Mona Awad follows Samantha, an outsider in an elite Master of Fine Arts writing program, who becomes entangled with a clique of eerily sweet, disturbingly inseparable women known as the “Bunnies.” As she’s drawn into their strange world of rituals, creativity, and blurred realities, the line between imagination and horror begins to dissolve, leading to increasingly surreal and unsettling consequences.

Looking Ahead to March

I’m so excited to keep turning the pages of this project – every square feels like a tiny yarn bookmark memory, it will be interesting to me how many I can remember just from the colours later on in the blanket making process.

Pattern Re-release| Retro Gamer Cushion

Hi folks! 👋 I’m really excited to share that one of my older designs has had a little refresh and is now back again – the Retro Gamer Cushion!

A Nostalgic Crochet Project

Originally published in Simply Crochet Magazine, this fun design was inspired by the classic arcade game Space Invaders, one of the earliest video games released back in 1978 and widely considered a pioneer of modern gaming. Even though the game was created before I was born, I definitely remember playing it as a child – usually on an old arcade machine somewhere like a caravan park or seaside arcade.

That retro gaming aesthetic has always been fun and colourful, so I wanted to capture that nostalgic feel in crochet form, and I thought corner to corner technique would be ideal. The result is a bright and playful cushion cover featuring a pixel-style alien motif that any gaming fan will instantly recognise. Whether it’s for a gamer’s bedroom, a cosy corner of the sofa, or a quirky handmade gift, it’s a really fun make.

It’s a great project if you enjoy colourwork and want something a little different from traditional crochet home décor. My version now has a home in my teenage daughter’s room, as she’s a big fan of gaming and loved the retro design. 🎮

DK weight yarn in grey and green
Crochet hook – size to suit your yarn (I used a 4 mm hook / US size G/5)
1 x 50x50cm (20×20 inch) cushion inner
6 x 2cm buttons

Inside Crochet 187 | Pemberley Lace Wrap

Helloo my lovelies,

Today I’m delighted to share one of my latest designs that’s been featured in Inside Crochet Magazine Issue 187. Allow me to introduce the Pemberley Lace Shawl, a delicate, lightweight shawl with a beautiful flowing lace pattern that feels elegant and timeless to wear.

The inspiration for this design actually began as a little daydream. In my head I imagined a shawl that felt modern enough to wear today, yet also something Elizabeth Bennet herself might have draped around her shoulders as she walked the grounds of Pemberley. That romantic image stayed with me throughout the design process – and of course it’s exactly where the name came from.

The finished shawl is lovely and generous in size, but still wonderfully lightweight thanks to the yarn and delicate lace stitches. It drapes beautifully and works just as well wrapped around your shoulders as it does worn as a large scarf.

❤️ SAVE PEMBERLEY LACE SHAWL ON RAVELRY ❤️

Although the lace looks intricate, it’s actually a very mindful crochet project. Once you’ve worked the setup and become familiar with the triangular shaping, the stitch pattern settles into a gentle two-row repeat that quickly becomes relaxing and rhythmic – perfect for those cosy evenings when you want something soothing to crochet.

For this design I used Sirdar Shawlie with 3.25mm (US size D/3) hook. Sirdar Shawlie is a fine, feather-light shawl yarn enriched with alpaca and wool (10% Wool, 80% Acrylic, 10% Alpaca). It comes in 100g balls with approximately 450m / 492yds of yarn and is a self-striping sport weight (sits between 4-ply and DK) yarn with colours inspired by vintage flowers.

The shade I chose was Chrysanthemum (203), which is a gorgeous blend of sunny yellows and warm golden tones that softly shift as you crochet using. It really highlights the lace stitches beautifully, though there are several other equally pretty shades in the range if you prefer a different palette.

To finish the design, I added a lovely long fringe along the outer edge which just completes the shawl perfectly and gives it a little extra movement and, I think, elegance.

Inside Crochet 186 | Whispering Winds Wrap

Helloo lovely makers! Today I’m delighted to share one of my latest makes that’s been featured in Inside Crochet Magazine Issue 186. Allow me to introduce the Whispering Winds Wrap, a delicate, lightweight shawl that feels like you are wearing a soft breeze, and it has quickly become one of my all-time favourite mindful makes.

The Whispering Winds Wrap is an airy triangular shawl worked from the bottom up. For this design I used Rico Design Fashion Mohair Rainbows a soft and dreamy yarn made of 20% Polyester, 17% Wool and 63% Mohair with a with a 4.5mm (US size 7) hook.

It comes in 25 grams balls but has 100 metres, so a little goes a long way. I used 6 balls in shade 004 with a delightful rainbow gradient – lovely to work with rainbows during the grey dreary winter season. The finished shawl is ideal for those transitional days in spring and autumn when you want just that little bit of cosy softness against your shoulders.

❤️ SAVE WHISPERING WINDS SHAWL ON RAVELRY ❤️

Mohair yarn has a personality all its own, and working with it can feel wonderfully different from smoother fibres. It has a signature halo, that soft, misty cloud of fuzz around the yarn strand, that can give finished pieces an soft look that’s perfect for something like the Whispering Winds Wrap. Because of this halo, stitches appear softer and more blended, creating fabric that looks light as air while still providing surprising warmth.

Patience is your best friend when handling mohair. The delicate fibres can cling slightly to themselves, so working at a relaxed pace helps prevent snagging or splitting. If you need to undo stitches, do so slowly and gently to avoid tangling the halo. Many crocheters find that using a hook with a smooth, tapered head makes the process feel easier and more fluid.

Despite its airy feel, mohair is impressively warm. The fuzzy halo traps heat, making even lightweight wraps cosy and comforting. If you’re not familiar with using mohair, why not give it a try – you might like it. I’m actually planning to make another of these shawls at some point, I’ve got some lovely handdyed yarn, in a ocean themed colourway, that I think would just look so pretty made up as a new Whispering Winds Wrap.

Free Crochet Pattern | Frosted Forest Houndstooth Wrap

Hey there crochet friends! I’ve got a new free pattern for you today – and it’s one that beautifully balances cosy comfort with classic style. Allow me to introduce the Frosted Forest Houndstooth Wrap, a crochet design that embraces the perfect blend of function and understated elegance.

The Frosted Forest Houndstooth Wrap was originally featured in the December 2024 issue of I Like Crochet magazine and features a timeless houndstooth stitch pattern. It’s size makes it a versatile addition to any winter wardrobe; it’s the kind of wrap you’ll reach for again and again, pairing just as well with casual layers as it does with more dressed-up looks.

This pattern is wonderfully easy to follow, making it perfect for confident beginners and anyone looking for a relaxing, enjoyable project. The stitch repeat is simple yet memorable, quickly becoming second nature as you work, so you can crochet without constantly referring back to the pattern. Despite its straightforward construction, the repeating stitch creates a beautifully textured houndstooth effect, giving the wrap a polished, impressive finish that looks far more complex than it actually is.

I created my wrap in Scheepjes Colour Crafter DK in 1005 Barneveld CC1 (3 balls), 1710 Ermelo CC2 (3 balls) and with the pop of 1680 Ameland CC3 (1 balls). Scheepjes Colour Crafter DK (light worsted) premium 100% Acrylic yarn (300 meters / 100 grams) which comes in a range of different colours. I really like this yarn, and have used it many times before, as it’s hypoallergenic and features a special anti-pilling quality, ensuring your handmade items stay smooth and look new, wash after wash.

Recommended crochet hook size for the DK is a 4mm hook (US G/6) hook, which is what I used, then the only other thing you will need for your wrap project is a tapestry needle and possibly some some stitch markers to help mark the start and finish of each row.

Frosted Forest Houndstooth Wrap Pattern

Skill Level: Easy

Finished Size: 7.5 inches wide x 70 inches long

Yarn: Scheepjes Colour Crafter DK, (100% Acrylic, 328 yarns [300mters] / 100g) in 1005 Barneveld CC1 (3 balls), 1710 Ermelo CC2 (3 balls) and with the pop of 1680 Ameland CC3 (1 balls).

Hook: 4mm hook (US G/6) hook

Notions: a tapestry needle and optional stitch markers

STITCH GUIDANCE: US Terminology

Stitches (st): Stitch abbreviations st or sts stand for “stitch” or “stitches”
Slip Stitch (sl st): Insert hook in st indicated, yarn over and draw through all loops.
Chain (ch): Bring yarn over the hook from back to front and draw it through the slip knot (or previous chain) to form a new loop on the hook.
Single crochet (sc): Insert hook in st indicated and pull up a loop [two loops on hook], yarn over, pull through both loops on hook.
Double Crochet (dc): Yarn over, insert hook in indicated st and pull up a loop (three loops on hook), yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops on hook.

PATTERN NOTES:

Gauge: 3 ‘houndstooth’ stitches = 1.3 inch / 3.5 cm. Obtaining the correct gauge is not critical for this project.

Make the shawl width bigger or smaller by making the beginning chain in a multiple of 2+1
The shawl is also easily adjustable by working less or more rows to begin with.
[ … ] Repeat section in square brackets until specified

CHANGING COLOURS

When changing to a different colour, pull the new colour through the last loops of the previous st to complete that st.
When changing to and from a colour carry the unused coloured yarn along the wrong side of the work loosely so that the work does not gather. Crochet over the unused colour as they are carried along; this will hide the strands of yarn invisibly and eliminate long unused strands.
Change colour every alternate row carrying your yarn along the sides of your work.

PATTERN

The ch1 at the beginning of a row does not count as a st.
The ch3 at the beginning of a row or round counts as the first dc.

Row 1: (RS) With YARN A; ch 81, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 dc in next ch, [1 sc in next st, 1 dc in next st] repeat across until end, turn. (80 sts)

Row 2: With YARN B; Ch 1, [1 sc in next st on top of dc of previous row, 1 dc in next st on top of sc of previous row] across until end, turn.

Rows 3 – 255: Repeat row 2 for the pattern while alternating colors A and B with each row. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Edging :

Row 1: With YARN C, loosely sl st along the edge of the right side of rows 1 – 255; then working into the sl sts, ch 1, * 1 sc in the next st, 1 dc in the next st; rep from * across until end, turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, [1 sc in next st on top of dc of previous row, 1 dc in next st on top of sc of previous row] across until end, turn. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Rows 3 – 4: Repeat rows 1 – 2 on the other edge of rows 1 – 255. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Blocking:

The design of this shawl may benefit from being wet blocked.

Leave to dry completely over 24 hours, and then unpin.
Completely soak your item in cold water then gently squeeze (without wringing it) out some of the excess water.
Using your tape measure and pins carefully pin your item on your blocking board
Double check your measurements if necessary (e.g. check the height and width are correct).

Free Crochet Pattern | Sweeping Swirls Scarf

Hey there, crochet friends! I’m pleased to share the Sweeping Swirls Scarf with you today – a fun and engaging filet crochet design that really shines when worked with a yarn cake. With its flowing swirls creating a warm yet airy texture, this scarf is a joy to stitch and a delight to wear.

The Sweeping Swirls Scarf was originally featured in the February 2021 issue of I Like Crochet magazine and is a lovely long scarf finished with a playful bobble trim for added personality. It’s a satisfying make: the rhythmic repeat of the filet motifs is relaxing to crochet, and the final result looks far more intricate than the stitches involved.

I created my scarf using a single cake of Lion Brand Mandala (100% Acrylic; 540 meters / 150 grams) in Chimera: 204 (A, 1 ball) using a 4mm hook (US G/6) hook. Then the only other thing you will need is a tapestry needle, 6m x turquoise 7mm bobble trim and corresponding coloured sewing thread.

Lovely and versatile, the Sweeping Swirls Scarf is perfect for getting cosy on a chilly day. Simply wrap it around your neck or drape it loosely over your shoulders for warmth without bulk.

Skill Level: Easy

Finished Size: 7.5 inches wide x 70 inches long

Hook: 4mm hook (US G/6) hook

Notions: a tapestry needle, 6m x turquoise 7mm bobble trim and corresponding coloured sewing thread.

STITCH GUIDANCE: US Terminology

Stitches (st): Stitch abbreviations st or sts stand for “stitch” or “stitches”

Slip Stitch (sl st): Insert hook in st indicated, yarn over and draw through all loops.

Chain (ch): Bring yarn over the hook from back to front and draw it through the slip knot (or previous chain) to form a new loop on the hook.

Double Crochet (dc): Yarn over, insert hook in indicated st and pull up a loop (three loops on hook), yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops on hook.

Filet Crochet Notes

Filet crochet is made up of two simple stitches, the chain and double crochet. The double crochet’s are worked in groups to form a solid block and the space between each block is enclosed by a length of chain which matches the number of double crochet’s (or chs / sts) over which it is worked.

Open block: Ch1, miss next st, 1 UK treble / US double crochet in the next st.
Block (Bl): 1 UK treble / US double crochet in the next 2sts.

Chart:

The chart for this pattern are worked back and forth in rows. Odd numbers are worked from right to left and even numbered rows are worked from left to right (if right handed).

Edging:

Starting with a ch3, work 2 UK treble / US double crochet along the end of each row end (around the post of the UK treble / US double crochet st) of each long side, and 1 UK treble / US double crochet in each st, or loop on the short ends, with 3 UK treble / US double crochet sts in each corner st, fasten off and weave in all ends.

Making Up:

Attach the turquoise bobble trim to the whole outer edge of your scarf.

Inside Crochet 185 | Circa Bag

Helloo!! How’s it going? Things have still been feeling rather full-on here still lately but I’ve been itching to finally sit down and share one of my most recent makes with you. I’m delighted to reveal that my Circa Bag has been featured in Inside Crochet Magazine Issue 185, and I can’t wait to tell you a little more about it.

Crochet bags never really go out of style do they? There’s something so satisfying about creating a bag, as it’s not just an accessory but something genuinely useful. From practical everyday totes to colourful crossbody bags, I love making pieces that are both useful and beautiful. I’ve combined the Circa Bag with a fun colourwork pattern and a classic round shape that I hope feels both timeless and on trend.

Imagine this bag swinging by your side at a weekend market, paired with denim and trainers (sneakers), or worn over a cosy winter coat to brighten up chilly days – or with a cute strappy dress when the sunshine finally returns to our shores! Whether you’re new to colourwork or you’ve been hooked on tapestry crochet for ages, this is a brilliant project to explore a great technique.

❤️ SAVE CIRCA BAG ON RAVELRY ❤️

It’s called the Circa Bag because “circa” means around the time of, so it’s a bit of a play on words. It’s a nod to the bag’s round shape, and as “circa” is often used when talking about eras or styles, it hopefully fits with the intention of the design feeling timeless rather than tied to one specific trend and is something you could happily use year after year.

For this design I used Garnstudio Drops Cotton Light, which is a soft cotton and polyester blend (50% Cotton, 50% Polyester) that comes in 50g (105m / 114yds) balls. It has great stitch definition without feeling stiff, making it ideal for a bag that needs a bit of structure.

I went for a warm, earthy palette with pops of brighter colour – rich rust and golden tones sit alongside softer neutrals, with small flashes of blue to add contrast. The colours work together to highlight the circular motif without overpowering it, giving the bag a balanced, wearable feel that still makes a statement.

The only other things you will need to make the bag are some stitch markers to help mark the beginning and end of each round, a tapestry needle, 1 x 20cm rust coloured zip, 1 x 16mm wooden bead, 1 x Light brown adjustable shoulder crossbody strap with gold clip hardware Width: 1.2cm Length: 120cm .

Issue 185 of Inside Crochet is an absolute treat for anyone who loves colourwork. New Crochet Pattern | Snowman Chocolate Orange Cozy

Winter is truly here and I’ve been wrapped up in cosy yarny goodness, dreaming up seasonal makes to bring extra cheer to your festive gifting — and today I’m thrilled to introduce a sweet and snuggly little project: the Snowman Chocolate Orange Cosy! 🍊☃️ You may notice that I use both cosy and cozy throughout this post – that’s simply because people prefer different spellings, and I want everyone to feel at home here.

This jolly fellow is the perfect way to dress up a chocolate orange (or even an apple!), making an adorable stocking filler, teacher gift, or table decoration this holiday season. I’ve made several of these to give as gifts over the years but I’ve only just got around to writing it up – but just in time for some last minute gift making!

🎁 Why You’ll Love Him

Isn’t he just the cutest? I adore how this snowman strikes a balance between whimsical and wonderfully practical — he’s small, quick to hook up, and instantly adds festive charm wherever he goes. Under the tree, tied to a present, or on a winter dessert table… he’s sure to bring a smile. ☺️

This cosy works up in amigurumi-style crochet which gives him a nice snuggly fit around your chocolate orange (and keeps the sweet treat nice and secure!).

Skill Level: Beginner–Intermediate – if you’re comfortable working in the round and adding a few embellishments like eyes, scarf, and hat, then you’re good to go!

🧶 What You’ll Need

DK weight yarn in white (for the snowman body)
A splash of colour yarns (for scarf and hat)
Crochet hook – size to suit your yarn (I used a 3.5 mm hook / US size E/4)
Black embroidery thread and 2 x 8mm safety eyes
A little orange or carrot-coloured yarn for the nose 🍊
a tapestry needle
Bonus: A stitch marker makes working in the round a breeze!
Finished Size: Designed to fit a standard chocolate orange, but you can adjust with thicker yarn or a bigger hook for a more generous cosy.

I’m thrilled to re-introduce to you today the Cherie Plaid Wrap – a beautifully large and cosy wearable accessory that brings instant warmth, texture and style to your wardrobe. Perfect for layering over a favourite sweater on brisk mornings or snuggling up by the fire on colder evenings, this wrap is both elegant and delightfully cosy.

The Cherie Plaid Wrap was originally featured in the October 2021 issue of I Like Crochet magazine and is a wrap is constructed from carefully placed motifs that combine to create a classic plaid effect.

Made to drape beautifully, the wrap finishes with a playful fringe that adds movement and personality. It’s a satisfying make: the rhythmic repeat of the motifs is relaxing to crochet, and the final result looks far more intricate than the stitches involved.

The stitches themselves are quite simple, but I wanted to explore plaid in a fresh way. I combined colourwork with granny-square clusters to create a unique motif. When these motifs are joined together they form a beautifully distinctive plaid effect.

The pink and grey colour palette was created with Stylecraft Special Aran in five different shades (Pale Rose: shade 1080), Graphite: shade 1063, Silver: shade 1203, White: shade 1001 and Mushroom: shade 1832) using a 5mm hook (US H/8) hook.

Lovely and versatile the Cheri Wrap is great for getting cosy on a chilly day, just throw it over yourself like a blanket, letting it cover your shoulders and arms, you have a eye-catching look that’s a winter winner!

New Crochet Pattern | Noel Nibbles Tree Ornament

Hey there, crochet friends! The count down for Christmas is on for us crocheters so I’m absolutely wrapped up with excitement to introduce my newest design – meet Noel Nibbles, the tiniest, most festive mouse in town! With his rosy cheeks, twinkling eyes, and a perfectly perched Santa hat, this charming little ornament is ready to bring a touch of handmade magic to your Christmas tree.

This tiny Christmas mouse brings heaps of festive charm in a small package. Whether he’s peeking out from the branches of your tree, perched atop a wrapped gift, or adding a dash of cheer to your holiday mantle, this miniature ornament sprinkles handmade magic wherever he goes.

Noel is a lovely quick make, he came together for me over just a couple of cosy evenings, and I think you’ll find he works up surprisingly fast for such a detailed little character. I’d say he sits at an intermediate skill level, simply because you’ll want to be comfortable with amigurumi-style crochet, shaping, and working in the round to get his tiny features just right. And if you’d like to play with size, he’s wonderfully flexible: use a thicker yarn and larger hook to create a slightly bigger, more huggable mouse, or switch to finer yarn and a smaller hook if you want an even tinier version to tuck into your tree.

For Noel Nibbles, I used Scheepjes Catona, which is one of my absolute favourite yarns to work with. It’s a lovely 100% cotton, a 4-ply that comes in 10g, 25g or 50g balls (138 yards / 126 metres), and it gives such beautiful stitch definition on small amigurumi makes. I paired it with a 3 mm hook (the closest US size is D/3), which helped keep him neat, compact, and full of character. His finished size is approximately 7.5 cm [2.9”] high.
